The Drift Gate

"Oh wow! What's that?"

"That, Nora, is a drift gate."

"Drift gate? Why's it called that granddad?"

"You heard of Scuba diving?"

"Yeah."

"Well, there's a thing called a drift dive. It's where you just drift along with the current. The drift gate lets you do the same thing, but with gravity. It's gentle."

"Have you been through a drift gate?"

"Lots of times. It can get a little trippy though."

"Trippy?"

"Drifting the gravity streams does funny things to your head. Sometimes its nice, sometimes it ain't."

"Like a nightmare?"

"Sometimes."

"When are we going?"

"Tomorrow, little one. Tomorrow."
