The Ogre Berserker charged him, its giant physique shaking the very ground beneath its footsteps. Kouji watched, calculating. He had already tested his ability on smaller monsters—now he wanted to see what it could do at maximum capacity.

As the ogre's club came swinging towards him, he leaped into the air in a split second, and was nearly weightless. With one step, he sprang up, the huge club smashing into the ground where he had been. The shock rippled through the dungeon.

Kouji whirled through the air, his katana glinting in the dim dungeon light. He added its weight tenfold, and it descended upon the ogre's thick hide. The impact alone should have torn through bone and muscle—yet, the sword barely bit in.

"Tch. Your skin is as tough as that, is it?" Kouji snarled as he landed.

The ogre growled and swung its club to the side. Kouji reacted in a hurry, shifting his own center of mass to set himself solidly. The club came down, but instead of flying out from beneath him, Kouji remained rooted, barely shifting.

His smile widened. "So then let's see what I do when I make you weightless."

With a thought, Kouji released his hold on gravity—not his own, but the ogre's.

The massive creature jerked violently, its body suspended a few inches above the earth. Its eyes widened in confusion, its limbs flailing as it attempted to battle the strange sensation.

Kouji didn't wait. He adjusted his own stance, rushing forward towards the incapacitated creature. His katana weighed more than ever before, and with a swift downward stroke—

The sword tore through the ogre's newly revealed skin, cutting deep into its shoulder. The beast cried out in agony, thrashing wildly, but its blows sailed wide as it drifted haphazardly.

"Not dead yet?" Kouji sneered. "Fine. Let's do this right."

He let the ogre's weight return in full. The beast crashed down to the earth with a tremendous BOOM, dazed by the sudden switch. Kouji didn't hesitate. He went forward, katana gleaming as he channeled every ounce of energy into one last strike.

—and the ogre's head thudded to the earth.

Kouji exhaled, wiping blood off his sword. "Hmph. That was fun."

With his first proper battle in this world over with, he headed towards the dungeon exit. His adventure had just begun.
