Keifer's POV
"Where are you from?" It was Keigan. I sat down on my bed and took off my shoes. I just let my brother keep on scolding me. "You're supposed to have a date with Ion." He said. "Do you know that he keeps calling me because he's worried about you." "Please say thank you for the concern." I said and stood up. I went straight to my walk in closet and put on my office uniform. Keigan was still doing what he was doing but he wasn't on my mind. "Don't let other people decide for you." It was Uncle Kier. "Know your goal and never ever let them distract you." I sighed. That was the last time the Elders let me see him. After that, they banned me. All I could do was catch up. He was out of the hospital and home but he still couldn't walk properly. He had a heart attack. It's a good thing his butler was quick and knew what to do. I thought I will lose another member of my family. "Go see Ion." Keigan said when I got out of my closet. "Maybe later." I said while wearing my shoes. After that I left the room and even though I didn't look back I knew he was following. He was following his sermon too. I saw Honey eating and grinning at meâ€"or the one behind me who was still babbling. "Keigan." I said and faced him. "Go to sleep, I know you were awake last night." "It doesn't matter. What's important is your date with Ion." Honey suddenly coughed loudly. She hit her chest before drinking water. "Date with that old woman?" Honey asked while pointing her index ï¬nger at me. "She's not that old. She's just a few years older than Kuya. Like you." Keigan said and Honey's face turned into a grimace. She stood up with the plate of food. She looked at us with her head held high. "I am only two years older than Keifer. Two years." She sigh. "If you'll excuse me, I had lost my appetite." He left and left Keigan and me but I took the opportunity to leave and follow Honey. "I'm not done talking to you!" He shouts but I ignore him. My head hurts from his repeated sermons. As time goes on, my brother insists on that engagement more and more. I'm not going to fall into the same trap like Jay-jay suffers with Yuri. I followed Honey out of our suite and headed straight to their room. She was even more surprised when I entered after her. "The fvck Keifer!" "What happened while I was gone?" I said cutting the chase. "As usual, Keigan is getting ready for that engagement. You're bored with your birthday." He said and turned his back on me. "What else?" "Where are you from?" "You visited Keiren." I said and sat down at the sofa. "He gained weight. He looks so happy there." "That's beautiful. Where did you really take him?" I shook my head. "Somewhere." She suddenly looked at me with a critical look. Her eyes narrowed before she scooped up the bread from the plate she was holding in one hand. "You've been in the Philippines! You hid him somewhere in that country." She said accusingly. I just raised a brow. She lost her appetite but she was still eating. "Answer my question." "Your cousins, they all wanted to celebrate your birthday. Watson style." She said before putting down the plate. "Then, your dear brother wanted to introduce that Ion girl to everyone." She emphasized Ion's name. Not gonna happen. "You? What did you do in the Philippines?" "None." I said and left her. I had no plans to give her any idea where I came from. I went straight to the elevator and even though I didn't look, I could feel my fellow passengers staring at me. "That's him. The Watson guy." "I heard it's him." "Soon, he'll be the richest bachelor in town." Bad news. I ain't a bachelor, I'm already committed and soon to be taken. He's the one I'm waiting for. The sweet yet ruthless yes of my lovely queen. The elevator opened and I got out. I walked quickly out of the hotel where my driver was waiting. "Watson Enterprise now." I said when I got inside the car. I looked out the window. I hadn't slept well even after an 8- hour trip. The image of Yuri with Jay-jay is making me pissed. That Japanese guy is really doing something. But that's not what bothers me the most. Someone wants my Jay-jay dead. Someone from the past that we already defeated. Those bastard doesn't know when to stop. And the loudest of all, the guy named Ryosuke Sato. He acts openly as if we are not a threat to him. I took out my secret phone and read their messages to me. Felix said he's pursuing Jay-jay for her forgiveness. Which is good. He's gradually forgiving the Ulopongsâ€"I mean our friends. I hope he'll be the same when I get back. I also checked Angelo's message about the ongoing threat. It was our fault and now he's pressuring me to ï¬nd and take down that Sato. As much as I wanted, I can't. My resources are not enough. His network is wider than mine. Rory and Edrix can't trace him . While Yuri on the other side is contacting their embassy. Damn this! I dialed Edrix's contact number. It took a few rings before he answered it. ["Keifer..."] "How's Jay?" ["It still doesn't seem obvious. We've been catching ï¬ve of them hanging around her."] He sighs. ["It would be better if she didn't leave the house. She's thankful that those guys are scared of her brother so they haven't let her in the house yet."] She has nothing to be thankful for that. If Angelo was really good, those guys wouldn't be hanging around her house. "Follow Jay as much as possible. Don't leave her side." ["It's blurry! It's blurry in the floodwaters! Jay-jay's head is so stubborn. It would be good if we were all okay with her."] I moved the phone to my ear. "Don't make it obvious." ["It's okay. It's good that David and Ci-N are okay with her. At least the two of them have a reasonâ€"."] "Don't forget to remind David about his limits." I heard her soft laughter. ["Yes. Alright. Rory and I are still talking."] I said goodbye and ended the call. The car stopped in the parking lot just in time. I got out and headed straight into the building. Employees are greeting me with all smiles. It looks like the news that my birthday is coming has arrived. And things are about to change. As I got into the elevator, the people inside greeted me quickly. I didn't say a thing and remained cold to them. It's not like I'm holding some grudges against them it's just that I don't really care about them. The same way that they don't care about me before. As the elevator opened another group of employees greet me. I ignored them and headed straight into Clyde's office. "Tell me something interesting." Clyde said while grinning. His secretary, the one that I knocked down before is standing beside him. Still have marks but all look goodâ€"for now. He moved back away from Clyde and looked down avoiding my gaze. I'm not sure if I should forgive him already or break his bones for real. "What's with the smile?" I ask in a flat tone. "I don't know. Why don't you tell me Birthday boy?" I raised a brow. He was starting to get annoyed again. That's what he did when he found out about Ion. I badly want to wipe those smiles using my ï¬st. "I'm not in the mood to play with your game." I said and turned my back about to leave. "Oh come on! Stop dissembling us." I stopped for a moment and slightly looked at him. "I am not." "I saw that Ion girl. She's a darling." She sounds so proud. "If you're marrying her, what would happen to that other girl?" I adjusted my body to face him completely. I know he's talking about my Jay-jay. My senses are all become active every time he opens his mouth and talks about her. He grinned widely upon seeing my reaction. "Are you planning to have two wives?" "I'm not and don't you dare mention her name in front of me just to ulï¬ll your satisfaction of pissing me off." He chuckled a bit and shook his head. "Why not?" I glared at him and he laughed. "The next CEO is already having an affair. You're indeed a Watson." "At least I have the woman that I love. How about you?" I said and he lost his smile. Got it! "You should get ready. We have a meeting to attend and the Elders want to talk to you." He said changing the topic. He stood up and left the office. It's my turn to smirk at him. I walked after him and followed him to the conference room. His secretary handed me the papers that I needed for the meeting. My upcoming birthday was not lost in the conversation. I can't help but be surprised. Even in our subsequent meetings, that matter was also included in the conversation. I only had one answer. I'll let you know about it soon. Although the truth is that I have no intention of celebrating my birthday. I wanted to be with the woman that I love. My existence in this world is nothing without her. After lunch we met with the greedy brothers. Uncle Kier is not with them as he needs to have a full bed rest. "We're planning to organize a party for his birthday." Clyde said to them with all smiles. "Invite all the well known families in town, including the royal amily. Gather the family chef and talk to your cousins to help you with it." The Eldest said and Clyde nodded. "Do we really have to celebrate? There's nothing special about my birthday." I said and Eldest looked at me sharply. "Well it's the born day of the bastard. The trash who will receive all the inherits of this family. We should celebrate that persecute truth." He said sarcastically. Thank you so much for the insult. The others laugh along with Clyde. I let them see that I'm not affected. Maybe they enjoy throwing hurtful words at me but those words are nothing to me. They're just wasting their time. "If that's the case I will invite my friends." I said and the Eldest instantly looked at me deadly. "You mean your trashed friend? No, you can't." "It's my birthday, I have the right toâ€"." "To dirt our name again? No you don't!" I stand up and look at him deadly. "Then you'll have a party with no celebrant." I walked out without looking back at them. Clyde called me but I ignored him. My lungs are suffocating every time I'm sitting near the Eldest. He still has the intimidating look. The superiority of a Watson. I chose to go back to the office but there was nothing I could do about it so I was forced to go home early. "Keifer!" Ion greeted me with a hug when I got home. Slightly push her but she obviously ignores it. I saw Honey looking at us disgustingly. She even shook her head. "Feeling teenager." She said. Ion pulled away from me and faced me with a full smile. I couldn't return her smile. If I didn't know her I would have probably already hit her. "Why are you here?" I said and walked pass by her. "We'll you forgot our date. So I decided to pay you a visit." I saw Honey behind her. She's copying her while making faces. "There's probably going to be a hit when the Pinas come home. I can't wait." She said that makes me stop and make Ion look at her. "What? Who's going to hit her?" "I don't know. Maybe youâ€"but my bet is on Keifer." I glared at her to make her shut up but Honey doesn't really know when to stop. She was really joking. I don't want another headache. Ion faced me with concern. "Are you worried about Angelo? I know you won't let him hurt youâ€"." "Oh no Angelo. My dear, you should prepare yourself to meet Jay â€"." "Enough!" I shouts but both of them really don't want to stop. "Who's Jay? Is that your new friend? I won't wonder if you have many friends anymore." Ion said to me. Her eyes look so innocent. Those are the same eyes that she used to look at him. And now she's using it to deceive me. "He's not just a friend." Honey said and laughed. "Brace yourself." "Honey, please." I said while holding the bridge of my nose. "It's okay. I want to know your new friends." I shook my head. "Wait for me here. I'll just change my clothes." I went straight to my room to change clothes. I just wanted to be quiet so I'd give it to her. I didn't stay long either because Honey might say something else. I don't want to say anything to Ion because I don't know what he's capable of yet. I don't even know the friend who's helping him. "Where are you going?" Honey asked while eyeing me from head to toe. It's Ion who answered. "I'm not allowed to go far. We'll be in the hotel garden probably." I nodded shortly. "Let's go." Honey gave me this weird face. As if she's saying that I'm about to die. Her arms were anchored to my arms as we walked towards the Elevator. Just like she said, we only went to the hotel garden. There are few people walking around and having small chats. Plants are all cut in different shapes. They also have a fountain surrounded by plants in a maze. Benches are everywhere and so is the trash bin. "I met your cousin Clyde." She starts. "He seems to be a nice guy." I almost choked on what she said. Nice guy my ass. She broke away from me and went to the orchids. I really couldn't get what she wanted and why she agreed to this engagement. She wouldn't get anything from me because her friend seemed richer . "You like the orchids?" I ask. She looks at me and smiles. "I do." I smiled back. "Then you'll have your own orchid garden. Once we got married I'll organize the house." She stiff. Unable to look back at me. She probably couldn't believe I said those things. "T-that's a good idea." She said and I can sense that she force herself to smile. "Do you want to stay at home and be a housewife? Or do you want to do something while being my wife." "Whatever you want." "You can have a business or you can work at the same time." She slightly moved away from the orchids and walked around. I followed her with a few feet away. "It doesn't matter to me." "Really? Well it's a choice anyway." She stopped and faced me. Her smile was reserved. "It's not like we're getting married immediately right?" I smirked. "We'll get married before we go back home in the Philippines. The day after my birthday." She gulp before biting her lips. Everything was slowly becoming clearer to me . She doesn't want to marry me. She wants something else that she will get along the process. "D-don't you think that's too fast." "No. This is arranged anyway. Date and time don't matter at all." "I think it's better if we get married in the Philippines." She suggested. I stared at her intently. I tried to guess what she wanted to do but her eyes were too innocent. "As you wish." I said and walked. She immediately joined me and anchored my arms around me. We talked a little about the place and how's her life lately but she made sure that she chose her answer carefully. We walked around the whole garden. During our conversation, something became clear to me. She's up to something.
