Chapter 103 – Team Discussion 团队讨论

After the counselor told the class to form groups, everyone started discussing. Lin Yuan originally planned to join a group without much thought. However, fate played a trick on him during the grouping process. He was grouped with the four most outstanding students in the class.

Gu Changfeng was fair - skinned, with delicate features and a faint smile always on his face. He was the team's peacemaker, effortlessly defusing any tense atmosphere. Shen Haotian was stocky and dark - skinned, exuding an innate sense of authority. Sometimes, he seemed rather cold - hearted. Hua Ruobing was slender with refined features, giving off a chilly and glamorous air. Chu Yao was an aloof beauty. Her straight black hair and sharp eyes made others hesitant to approach. Each of the four ranked within the top ten students in the class. Lin Yuan, on the other hand, was a poor performer, almost like dead weight for these four gaming prodigies.

Lin Yuan smiled wryly. "I'm really just here to set off the others." He mumbled half - jokingly. But soon, he pulled himself together, trying not to seem out of place.

After submitting the group list to the counselor, Hua Ruobing suggested, "How about we go to the coffee shop next to the school library? We can grab a drink and get to know each other."

Chu Yao nodded. "Good idea. We need to plan our training schedule."

Shen Haotian didn't say anything but stood up silently, indicating his agreement. Gu Changfeng smiled faintly. "Sure, I need some coffee."

Lin Yuan secretly sighed with relief. "They don't seem too strict..."

The coffee shop was nearby. After ordering drinks, they sat in a corner by the window. Lin Yuan stared down, stirring his coffee, unsure of what to say. An awkward silence filled the air after they sat down. The only sound was the clinking of cups on the table.

Hua Ruobing quickly sensed the awkwardness and broke the silence. "Since we're a team, we should get to know each other. Why don't we introduce our preferred gaming styles? It'll help with task allocation."

Taking a sip of coffee, Chu Yao nodded. "I'll kick off. I'm really good at close-combat characters. Whether it's assassins or samurai, I prioritize agility to deal high-end damage."

"That's so typical of Chu Yao..." Gu Changfeng chuckled in agreement. Then he added, "I'm into magic - using classes, like control or support mages. Controlling the battlefield is my forte. I'll need to study for this martial arts game, though."

"Hmm... I play a bit of everything," Hua Ruobing smiled. "I can do both close - and long - range combat. Recently, I've been practicing with a martial - arts swordsman. I'm more on the damage - dealing side."

Everyone looked at Shen Haotian. He said firmly, "Tank. I focus on defense, facing attacks directly."

"So reliable..." Lin Yuan thought to himself. Shen Haotian seemed a perfect fit for the tank role.

At this point, Hua Ruobing turned to Lin Yuan, blinking. "What about you, Lin Yuan? What are you good at?"

Put on the spot, Lin Yuan blushed. Scratching his head, he stammered, "I... I mainly play farming simulation games. I'm good at growing crops..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Changfeng couldn't hold back his laughter. Chu Yao sighed, covering her face. A frown creased Shen Haotian's forehead, though his overall expression stayed largely impassive.

Hua Ruobing quickly tried to smooth things over. "It doesn't matter. We can still work together. You might have hidden potential in this game."

Lin Yuan lowered his head, smiling bitterly. "Easy for her to say. If I had any potential, I wouldn't be worrying about making a living."

They chatted on and off, and the awkward atmosphere eased a bit. Finally, Hua Ruobing proposed, "Well, since the final exam is 'Martial Arts Duel in XYZ', let's get familiar with the game. How about we meet at the internet café this afternoon for a practice session?"

Chu Yao nodded. "Practicing helps us understand teamwork and each other's rhythm better."

Gu Changfeng shrugged. "I'm okay with that."

As always, Shen Haotian didn't say much and simply nodded. Lin Yuan swallowed hard before managing a hesitant "O-okay."

In the afternoon, they arrived at the internet café near the school on time. It was a training venue for students, equipped with advanced facilities. Even each gaming pod had a holographic projection screen. Gu Changfeng briefly explained the basic rules of "Martial Arts Duel in XYZ". It was a competitive martial - arts game emphasizing teamwork. There were many maps, with five main scenarios: forest, village, cliff, underground palace, and city wall. Each team's goal was to capture resource points on the map while defeating opposing players.

"A resource point is considered captured after five minutes of control. There's also a direct - elimination mode where you knock out the entire enemy team," Gu Changfeng pointed at the screen map. "If my info's right, our exam's in elimination mode."

Lin Yuan was confused but nodded frequently, pretending to understand to avoid looking incompetent.

Everyone entered their gaming pods. After loading their characters, they started their first team training. Lin Yuan finally understood what "true despair" meant. His character control was clumsy, and he often used the wrong skills. There was no semblance of teamwork. From start to finish of the training, his dismal performance made the other four teammates exchange frowns again and again.

顾长风,清秀俊美,白皙的脸上总带着一抹淡淡的笑意,是团队里的润滑剂,任何紧张的氛围在他这里都会被轻描淡写地化解;沈昊天,身材壮硕,肤色偏黑,给人一种天生的压迫感,偶尔会显得有些不近人情;华若冰,身材苗条,面容精致,看上去有点冷艳;楚瑶,高冷御姐,黑色直发配上那种锐利的眼神,让人不敢轻易靠近.四个人都是班级前十的 "顶尖高手" ,偏偏就带上了林远这么个吊车尾,简直像是四大高手拖着一个 "坑货" 在走.

林远无奈地笑了笑:"果然是高光人物的陪衬." 他半开玩笑地嘟囔了一句,不过很快收拾心情,努力让自己看上去不那么格格不入.

分组名单交给辅导员后,华若冰提议道:"要不我们去学校图书馆旁边的咖啡店坐坐吧?喝点东西,顺便互相熟悉一下."

楚瑶点点头,"也好,之后得计划一下训练的安排."

沈昊天虽然没说什么,但默默站了起来,显然是同意了.而顾长风轻轻一笑:"行,我也正好想喝点咖啡."

林远偷偷松了一口气,心想:"看起来还好,不是特别严肃的那种队友..."

咖啡店不远,几人简单点了些饮品后,选了个靠窗的角落坐下.林远低头搅动着杯中的咖啡,不知道该说什么,结果坐下后气氛就有点诡异地沉默了.除了杯子碰桌的声音,谁都没有开口.

华若冰很快察觉到这种微妙的尴尬,率先打破沉默:"大家既然要组队,总得先熟悉熟悉吧.要不,我们来介绍一下自己擅长的游戏风格?这样也方便分配任务."

楚瑶抿了一口咖啡,点了点头,"我可以先说,我擅长近战类型的角色,尤其是刺客类和武士类职业,偏重灵活和输出."

"果然是很楚瑶的风格..." 顾长风笑着附和,接着补充道, "那我擅长法术系职业,比如控制类法师,或者辅助法师,能为团队提供支援,控场是我的强项.武侠的话,我得回去研究研究了."

"嗯...我玩得比较杂," 华若冰微微一笑, "可以近战也可以远程,不过我最近在练武侠系的剑士,算是偏输出吧."

众人目光看向沈昊天,沈昊天沉声开口:"坦克.防御为主,正面扛伤害."

"好稳..." 林远在心里感叹一句,感觉沈昊天的形象跟他玩坦克完全匹配.

这时候,华若冰转向林远,眨了眨眼:"那林远呢?你擅长什么?"

林远被点名,脸一红,挠挠头支吾道:"我... 我主要玩农场模拟游戏,擅长种菜..."

话音刚落,顾长风没忍住笑了出来,楚瑶也扶额叹了口气.沈昊天皱了皱眉,表情却没有什么特别的变化.

华若冰忙着打圆场:"也没关系,反正我们还可以互相配合嘛!游戏里说不定你还有其他潜力呢."

林远低着头苦笑着想:"这话说得倒是很轻松,我要真能有潜力,怕已经不用为生计发愁了."

几人有一搭没一搭地聊着,尴尬的气氛稍微缓解了一些.最后华若冰提议:"那这样吧,既然期末考核是这个"武侠决战XYZ",我们先熟悉一下游戏内容,今天下午在网咖集合练习一场,怎么样?"

楚瑶点头表示赞同:"练习能更快摸清大家的节奏和配合."

顾长风耸了耸肩:"我没意见."

沈昊天依旧寡言,只是点了点头.

林远这时硬着头皮答应:"好,好啊.

下午,他们准时来到学校附近的网咖.这是一个专为学生开放的训练场地,设备先进,甚至连每个游戏仓都有全息投影的屏幕.顾长风简单讲解了"武侠决战XYZ"的基本规则,这是一款强调团队合作的竞技类武侠游戏,地图有很多,五个主场景,分别是森林,村庄,悬崖,地宫和城墙.每个队伍的目标是争夺地图中的资源点,同时击败对方玩家.

"资源点需要控制五分钟后才算占领成功,当然也有直接对战,把对方全部淘汰的模式." 顾长风指着屏幕上的地图说,"我们的考试好像全部都是淘汰模式,如果我得到的资料没错的话."

林远听得一头雾水,但为了不显得自己太菜,只能频频点头装作很懂的样子.

大家进入游戏仓,载入角色后开始了第一次团队训练.而林远也终于明白了什么叫 "真实的绝望" ,他的角色操控僵硬,技能释放经常弄错,更别提与其他人配合了.整场训练下来,林远的表现差得让其他四人忍不住频频皱眉.
