Chapter 10: A New Chapter Begins

The hospital corridors felt strangely empty after Riven's departure. Nyxara resumed her routine, but there was a subtle shift within her. Life had moved forward, as it always did, and so had she.

Days turned into weeks, filled with back-to-back surgeries, long shifts, and the quiet fulfillment of saving lives. She had poured her energy into her work, allowing it to shape her, mold her into the person she had always aspired to be.

One evening, as she reviewed a patient's chart in her office, a soft knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts. Looking up, she found one of her colleagues standing there, a knowing smile on her face.

"There's a patient asking for you," she said. "Seems like someone important."

Curious, Nyxara followed her to one of the private rooms. As she stepped inside, she was met with a familiar pair of eyes—one she hadn't expected to see so soon.

Her breath caught, but she quickly composed herself. "Riven?"

He was seated on the hospital bed, looking slightly amused by her reaction. "Didn't think I'd be back so soon, did you?"

Nyxara folded her arms, shaking her head with a small chuckle. "I warned you to stay out of trouble."

He smirked. "Like I said, no promises."

Despite herself, she felt a sense of calm settle within her. Life had moved on, but some stories, it seemed, had a way of finding their way back.
