Nyxara stepped closer to Riven, her medical instincts taking over as she scanned his condition.
"You seem fine," she said, glancing over the chart.
"What brings you back here?"
Riven leaned back against the bed, his expression softening. "I'm doing well. Just a check-up, nothing serious."
As she continued her examination, Riven's gaze lingered on her. "I'm married now, Nyxara. To someone I love deeply."
Nyxara's breath hitched, but she kept her composure. "I see." Her heart ached, but she forced a smile.
"I'm glad for you, Riven. Truly."
He nodded, his eyes distant. "And what about you? How's your life?"
"I'm focused on my work. It's enough," she replied, the words more of a shield than the truth.
Riven smiled faintly, standing up to leave. "Take care, Nyxara. I'll be heading back to the base soon."
As he walked away, Nyxara's gaze lingered on him. She knew where his heart belonged, and it wasn't with her. But as always, she would carry the silence of her unspoken feelings.
