Chapter 1

I am the top jewelry designer in the country.

For our wedding, I designed a pair of rings called "Forever Promise" that told the story of my decade-long love with Caelan, becoming a beautiful industry fairy tale.

Hospital regulations prohibit doctors from wearing rings during work hours.

So Caelan made a habit of always wearing our wedding ring on his chest.

He said it was as if I lived on his heart.

Later, his first love slipped a plain ring onto his finger.

He couldn't bear to take it off even while working.

I finally understood that my carefully designed ring was no match for her simple band.

His ring finger had always been reserved for someone else.

On that afternoon when I discovered Caelan's first love had returned to the country, the weather was beautiful.

That day, the company gave us a half-day off, and on a whim, I decided to visit the hospital.

He had been working overtime a lot lately, and his heart wasn't feeling well, so I was a bit worried about his health.

On my way there, a message popped up on my phone. It was from the small group chat with my coworkers.

At that time, I had just turned down a company-sponsored study opportunity in America, and everyone was feeling sorry for me.

"Indra, are you sure you don't want to reconsider? It's such a great opportunity!"

"You don't know anything. Indra and her husband are madly in love. They've been together for over a decade and still can't get enough of each other. How could she bear to leave?"

"Who says I don't know? That 'Forever Promise' ring Indra designed back then became a sensation. It's a legend in the industry! That's actually why I decided to study jewelry design..."

"That's why they say a true love ring needs to be designed by someone in true love. Hey Indra, how did you come up with that ingenious hollow design on the side of the diamond ring?"

I smiled softly.

The hollow pattern on that ring was designed to fit perfectly onto a necklace.Caelan is a doctor and can't wear rings at work. He playfully asked if he could wear the ring on a necklace, so I specially designed this. I never expected it would become the perfect finishing touch.

Perhaps this is the magic of love.

As I reached the hospital entrance, I hesitated, wondering if I should text him a heads-up. Suddenly, a car horn blared, interrupting my thoughts.

"Never mind, I'll surprise him."

I put my phone away, smoothed my hair, and entered the hospital.
