Caelan's office is on the third floor.
Just as I entered the hospital lobby, I heard someone call his name.
Instinctively turning my head, I saw Caelan standing at the door of the cardiology clinic.
Could it be that his heart was troubling him again?
My heart raced with worry as I hurried over, only to see a beautiful woman walk out of the exam room.
She was in tears, burying her face in Caelan's chest.
Caelan naturally embraced her, resting his chin on her shoulder, gently stroking her long hair, and whispering something in her ear.
I stood frozen in place.
After several more glances, I finally confirmed it was indeed Caelan.
The cacophony of hospital noises stretched into a long line in my ears as I hastily hid behind a pillar in the lobby.
Perhaps there was some misunderstanding?
Maybe Caelan was just comforting her.
It's not unheard of for patients to need such consolation.
I tried to steady my breathing, suppressing the suspicions in my heart, and walked over.
The woman was gone, and Caelan was sitting alone by the clinic door.
He looked up, catching sight of me.
I saw a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
"Indra... what are you doing here?"
"When did you arrive? Are you feeling unwell?"
"There are a lot of patients here. Let me take you to my office."He stood up in a panic, grabbing my hand as if wanting to quickly lead me away.
Only then did I notice that he had removed the wedding ring from his neck, but a plain silver band now adorned his ring finger.
A voice came from the exam room behind us: "Caelan, let's go."
The woman from earlier walked out, freezing when she saw me.
She quickly recovered, stepping forward to take my hand: "Are you Indra?"
She wore a matching plain ring on her hand. After designing for so many years, I could tell at a glance that it was a pair with the one on Caelan's hand.
The woman said: "Sis, don't misunderstand. My name is Nolan, I'm Caelan's friend. My heart was feeling unwell, so I asked him to accompany me to the doctor."
Friends?
Would friends wear matching rings?
I silently looked at the two of them.
"Indra..."
Caelan opened his mouth, wanting to explain, when a sudden scream cut off his words.
