Chapter 3

In the hospital lobby, a man brandished a large kitchen knife, screaming maniacally.

The surrounding crowd gasped and retreated.

We stood on the periphery, scattered by the panicked throng.

Suddenly, a little girl next to me burst into tears, catching the crazed man's attention.

He fixed his malevolent gaze on me, muttering incoherently, and charged rapidly in my direction.

My mind went blank in an instant. I wanted to run, but my body refused to move.

I heard Caelan shout, "Indra! Come here, quick!"

Instinctively, I looked towards his voice. Caelan was watching me anxiously, the concern in his eyes seemed genuine.

I mumbled, reaching out my hand, "Caelan..."

His brow furrowed as he started to run towards me, but his hand was seized by another woman.

Nolan crouched down, clutching her chest, and sobbed:

"Caelan, my heart hurts."

"Don't leave me, I'm scared..."

Perhaps it's because our senses are heightened in tense situations.

I clearly saw Caelan hesitate for a moment, then crouch down and wrap Nolan in his arms, comforting her like a fragile lover, whispering, "It's okay, I'm here."

The next moment, I was tackled by the man, my head slamming hard against the floor. The man screamed as he raised the knife. The blow to the back of my head made me forget how to struggle. In despair, I closed my eyes.

The expected pain never came. Several good Samaritans intercepted the man, and security guards quickly arrived to subdue him.

My head spun, and Caelan's face appeared before my eyes.

He gripped my hand tightly, his expression filled with extreme anxiety as he called out my name.

"Indra, hang in there..."

"Don't be afraid, I'm here..."
