I pushed open the office door.
"Professor, I've made up my mind. I want to be an eagle soaring through the skies."
The professor was stunned for a moment, then removed his glasses with trembling hands, tears moistening the corners of his eyes.
Afraid I might change my mind, he immediately pulled out a job application form for me to fill out.
I filled it out meticulously, and under route selection, I deliberately wrote:
"Requesting a route that will never intersect with J9527."
When the professor saw this line, his pupils suddenly contracted.
J9527 was Vivienne's route.
Half an hour later, I left the professor's office. Just as I was about to call a cab home, I saw Vivienne.
Vivienne was smiling as she fed the remains of her bread to Xavion.
"Xavion, is your senior's bread tasty?"
"It's delicious, though of course I'm not talking about the bread."
Their gazes intertwined, eyes brimming with the promise of love, their breathing gradually intensifying.
I walked past with a calm expression. Vivienne noticed me, furrowing her brow slightly, then turned to Xavion and whined:
"Xavion, I just twisted my ankle and can't walk. Could you carry me home?" Xavion shot me a smug glance, feigning hesitation as he said:
"Senior, this doesn't seem right. Zoran, your official boyfriend, is right here. Shouldn't he be the one to handle this?"
Vivienne coldly glanced at me. "Him? He's not worthy."
With that, right in front of me, she wrapped her arms around Xavion's neck and leaped into his embrace. They hailed a cab and left.
I knew she was deliberately punishing and provoking me, trying to drive me crazy because I had neglected her earlier.
In the past, I might have been furious.
But now, I felt oddly calm.
After going home and freshening up, I had just laid down in bed when Vivienne's bestie sent me a video.
In the footage, Vivienne had her arms around Xavion's neck, her flushed face whispering sweet nothings.
"Zoran, you better come get your girl. She's wasted and keeps saying she wants to get a room with Xavion."
I remember before, when Vivienne and Xavion were out partying.
I went to find her, wanting to bring her home, but she belittled and scolded me in front of everyone.
"Zoran, why are you being so controlling? You're even trying to manage me having a drink with friends? We're not even married yet!" "Why is your need for control so strong? Is it because you didn't have parents growing up and are starved for love?"
The wound I once exposed to her was now transformed into a sword, piercing me.
Even now, I can still remember the mocking looks in their eyes back then.
I said nothing, hung up the phone, and fell into bed.
Half-asleep, Vivienne suddenly burst through the door.
Reeking of alcohol, she grabbed my collar and demanded:
"Zoran! I was about to get a room with Xavion, why didn't you come looking for me!"
I rubbed my eyes, finally coming to my senses:
"You have your freedom. We're not married."
Hearing this, Vivienne's lips curled into a triumphant smile:
"Look at how jealous you are. I wonder who you learned that from."
"Alright, that video was actually for filming new content for Xavion. It's not what you thought."
I nodded slightly, wanting to push her off me.
Vivienne's smile froze. "I've explained everything to you. What are you still jealous about?"
I sighed, "I believe you. I really do. Can you get off me now?" Vivienne gripped my arm tightly, demanding, "Do I have to cut ties with little Xavion for you to be satisfied?!"
I rolled my eyes. "It's already two in the morning. Can't you just leave me alone?"
Hearing this, Vivienne desperately clung to me, tears welling up and falling onto my cheek.
"Zoran, what do I have to do for you to go back to the way you were?"
"If you're angry because I went to keep little Xavion company, then punish me, okay? Any punishment will do."
As she spoke, she suddenly started pulling at my clothes.
I quickly got up, pushing her away.
In the past, I would have been very excited.
But now, I found her disgusting.
"I'm sorry, I'm not in the mood."
After some more fuss, perhaps exhausted, she fell asleep on the bed.
I gazed at her silently for a moment, then packed my luggage and left for the airline dormitory.
