Chapter 4

The next day, Vivienne sent me a barrage of angry messages, which I chose to ignore.

Later, my mentor asked me to bring my junior colleague to a dinner with some senior officials.

Little did I know that I would encounter Vivienne and Xavion there.

"Zoran, what are you doing here? Are you stalking me?"

Her gaze quickly fell on me and my junior colleague.

"Well, well. Now I see why you dared to ignore my messages. You've been fooling around with another woman! You have no shame!"

Xavion's eyes darted back and forth as he twisted the knife:

"Bro Zoran, you left abruptly last night, and Vivienne was heartbroken all evening. I had a hard time consoling her."

"How could you cheat on her behind her back?"

Fury blazed in Vivienne's eyes as she slapped me across the face:

"Zoran, who do you think you are? You're nothing but a pathetic loser that nobody wants. Besides me, who else would even look at you twice?"

My junior colleague couldn't stand it anymore. "You're the one who's even worse!!"

Xavion wore a schadenfreude expression, saying sarcastically:

"Bro Zoran, you really went to great lengths to upset Vivienne. Vivienne let out a cold laugh, as if recalling something:

"Zoran, isn't this just your way of trying to get my attention? If you go home right now and apologize, I might still forgive you!"

"Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to temporarily suspend your flight plans and let little Xavion take your place!"

I looked at her haughty demeanor, feeling a chill in my heart.

She must know what the position of co-pilot means to me.

Suppressing my emotions, I replied coolly:

"Do whatever you want."

Hearing this, Vivienne's pupils constricted sharply as she snapped angrily:

"You think I'm joking with you?"

"Do you still want your position or not?! At your age, if I fire you, no other flight crew will take you!"

Xavion chimed in with a mocking tone, looking down on me:

"Zoran, bro, you may be a bit older than me, but you're not quite at retirement age yet. If no one wants you... I guess you'll be forced into early retirement, huh?"

"You'd better hurry up and apologize to Vivienne."

I stared coldly at Vivienne.

She seems to have forgotten that she was the one who kept insisting I stay by her side back then. I had long since become the first captain at United Airlines.

Seeing that I remained silent, Vivienne clenched her fists and stared intently into my eyes.

"Still not talking?" Her voice was icy cold, as if the very air had frozen. "It seems you really don't know what's good for you. Fine, I'll make the call right now and kick you off my flight crew immediately. You'll never have a chance to redeem yourself!"

"Zoran, what's it going to be? Get on your knees and beg for my forgiveness, or get the hell out of this industry? Surely you're not too stupid to do the math here?"

A mocking smile curled at her lips, her eyes filled with condescending contempt. "Don't think you have a choice. You're only fit to accept what I decide!"

Just then, a booming voice came from behind her:

"Oh really? I'd like to see how you, a mere captain, plan on firing our flight instructor!"

My mentor and the executives walked in, and Vivienne's pupils suddenly constricted!
