Chapter 5

After the first month following the blood transfusion, I lost most of my physical strength.

The doctor said it was a normal rejection response, but I knew it was far more than that.

Standing in the corner of the set, I could no longer move as nimbly as before.

My body felt as if it were bound by invisible shackles, every movement becoming a struggle.

...

I looked up at Xavion, my voice weak as I said:

"That five million... could we just forget about it?"

Xavion's gaze instantly turned sharp, as if he would devour me whole.

"Is money all you think about? If you finish this, you won't have to pay it back," he sneered.

This was a near-insane underwater chase scene.

The script required the actors to maintain high-intensity movements in the water,

Holding their breath for long periods while moving swiftly.

I knew I couldn't possibly complete it.

But Xavion's eyes told me: I had to.

On my first dive, I almost instantly lost all ability to move.

The icy water engulfed me, my lungs searing with pain.

The crew watched in horror, but no one dared to intervene.

"The five million isn't for free. What I need is the perfect shot," Xavion barked.

I struggled to my feet, once again standing at the edge of the pool. Like a chess piece about to be pushed into the abyss.

Xavion approached me, his voice grim, yet a flicker of reluctance in his eyes "Are you willing to give up your life and dignity for money?"

I laughed weakly, "Yes, I really need the money."

He angrily shoved me away.

"Fine, then finish this scene, shoot to your heart's content!"

My body felt as heavy as if it were tied to a massive boulder.

It seemed my body, after the blood transfusion, had lost its last ounce of resistance.

I smiled faintly, took a gentle breath, and once again stood at the edge of the pool.

Xavion, unable to contain himself any longer, yanked me away from the pool's edge with a low growl:

"Enough!"

My body could no longer support itself, and I collapsed to the ground.

The icy water made me shiver uncontrollably.

A fellow extra we'd both worked with before rushed over, horrified, and cradled me in their arms, turning to shout at Xavion:

"She had a full blood transfusion for you, she can't handle such intense activity right now, don't you know she could die!"
