Chapter 1

The night Xavion stood on stage accepting his Best Actor award at the Golden Globes.

I lay in the ICU, where the doctor had just informed me my blood could no longer support any transfusion.

The awards ceremony host invited Xavion to make a call to his "biggest regret in life."

Without hesitation, his fingers dialed that all-too-familiar number.

The phone in my hospital room suddenly vibrated, carrying his deep accusation:

"You chose to disappear for money. Now that you see my success, do you regret it?"

I stared at the sky-high bill for blood transfusions by my bedside, a mocking smile tugging at my lips:

"Oh great actor, could you spare me $5 million?"

The call ended abruptly. On screen, Xavion's eyes turned sharp:

"Some people aren't worth remembering."

He would never know that when his blood was severely contaminated,

I secretly gave him transfusion after transfusion to save his life.

The live stream had just faded to black when an enormous transfer appeared on my phone.

I stared blankly at the string of digits, my emotions churning uncontrollably.

The medical bills had just been settled when a voice that made my heart race echoed down the hallway.

Through the crack in the door, I caught a glimpse of his tall, striking silhouette.

Four years had passed, yet time had left no trace on him. If anything, he seemed even more dazzling and captivating.

The woman nestled in his arms now was no longer the person I used to be.

He was still wearing the custom-tailored suit from the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, having rushed to the hospital.

All because his new girlfriend had suddenly come down with a fever.

I watched as he lovingly cradled Melody, whispering words of comfort.

I was about to quietly close the door and slip away, pretending we'd never crossed paths.

But Xavion abruptly pushed open the hospital room door.

Startled by the sudden movement, I looked up and found myself locked in his deep, penetrating gaze.

His eyes swept over my pallid face like shards of ice.

"Trying to pretend you don't know me after all this time?"

I stared at his perfect profile, a thousand words surging in my chest, but in the end, I only said:

"Xavion, lend me another seven million."

His handsome face instantly darkened, his eyes blazing with fury.

He grabbed my wrist tightly:

"Four years apart, and your heart's turned this cold?" The needles' countless pinpricks sent waves of intense pain through my body, a stark reminder of all I had sacrificed.

Pushing through the agony, I sneered:

"Surely a sum this small is pocket change for an international superstar. Or are you worried Ms. Frost might take issue?"

Xavion's expression froze, a flicker of complex emotions passing through his eyes.

Just as he was about to speak, Melody clung to his arm in a coquettish manner:

"Is this that money-grubbing ex-wife of yours?"

Melody's gaze raked over me with disdain:

"Seven million? That's nothing. The custom jewelry Xavion buys me costs hundreds of millions!"

"You must have been blind to let go of such an exceptional man. It's fortunate you left, allowing me to find him."

I fell silent as memories flooded back like a tidal wave.

Xavion and I had met as extras on a movie set in Hollywood, falling in love and staying together for five years.

Back then, he was just an unknown walk-on.

My body hadn't yet been ravaged by countless blood transfusions.

We were both penniless actors with no connections, finding a sense of belonging in each other for the first time.

We struggled together, dreaming of making our own legend in the entertainment world.

Until he landed a role in "Crimson Intrigue," his blood suddenly developed a fatal issue.A series of treatment plans required sky-high costs,

Our life savings were far from enough.

To treat his illness,

I began taking on all sorts of dangerous stunt work, living from hand to mouth.

Working myself to the bone just to raise an extra penny.

We even switched to high-risk experimental therapies.

Yet his condition kept worsening every day.

Watching his life slip away day by day, I was on the verge of a breakdown.

Just when all hope seemed lost, the doctor found me saying they'd discovered a glimmer of hope.

The key to saving Xavion's life was my blood.
