Chapter 4

As we approached the entrance of the amusement park, he strode purposefully toward the interior.

Before we even got close, we could see the blue drop tower ride stained red with blood.

The air was still thick with the metallic scent of gore.

He covered his nose tightly, exclaiming, "Why does it reek so badly? What the hell is Jolene up to?!"

Hearing this, cold sweat broke out on the forehead of the park manager. "Sir, perhaps it's best if you see for yourself..."

He stepped aside slightly.

Revealing my body covered by a white sheet, and a small, lumpy bundle also draped in white.

Brent's large hand hovered between the two covered forms.

Without realizing it, his brow furrowed into deep lines, hesitation evident.

I clutched my chest, anticipating what would be revealed next. The pain in my heart made it hard to breathe, yet I couldn't bear to look away.

Finally, he reached for the smaller bundle.

Just as he began to lift the white cloth, a shrill cry came from behind him.

"Brent, why did you bring a dead stray cat here?!"

Aria shrieked as she burrowed into Brent's embrace.

Brent's face, still showing traces of panic, froze for a moment. Then, as if suddenly coming to his senses, he kicked the child's body away.

He then ordered some stray dogs to be brought over. The beasts, catching the scent of flesh, swarmed in.

I screamed and lunged forward, but could do nothing. I went mad, questioning him, tearing at him, but it was useless.

I'm just a spirit now, even if I'm in pain, no one can see it.

But I really can't accept this. What did I do wrong? What did my child do wrong?

Looking at the debris scattered on the ground, a flash of resentment passed through Aria's eyes.

"Stop playing games! Where's Jolene? Where is she?!"

"It wasn't enough to provoke Aria into jumping off a building before, now you're using a dead cat to scare her! I never knew she could be so vicious!"

"Jolene, don't you care about the baby the most? If you don't come out now, once the child is born, we'll get divorced, and you won't win custody! You'll never see the child again in your life!"

I sat down on the ground, dumbfounded, laughing and crying.

That's right, my parents are already gone.

Brent has betrayed me too, and this child was the most important thing to me.

But the father himself killed it, and in the end, not even bones remained!

Brent! You will surely go to hell!

He shouted angrily, telling me to get out.

But there was no response. Finally, the amusement park manager reluctantly approached, slowly lifting the white sheet covering my corpse. With a trembling voice, he said, "Sir, your wife is right here! As for the child, you've already taken it to feed the wild dogs..."
