Chapter 5

The responsible person's words trailed off as they lifted the white sheet covering my body.

I only needed one glance before my entire being turned ice-cold.

The "me" on the ground had eyes wide open, an expression of dying with unresolved grievances.

The loose blue maternity dress I wore was stained a horrifying crimson with blood.

It takes courage to look at your own corpse.

Brent's face slowly drained of color as he took in the scene.

I had always been meticulous about my appearance, though not as extravagant as Aria.

But at least I was always neat and tidy.

This was the first and last time since knowing him that I appeared so wretched and disheveled.

"You're saying this is Jolene?"

The person in charge nodded: "Yes, this is indeed the madam. After you had her tied up at the time, the estate was sealed off. No one else has entered during this period."

Brent silently walked step by step to my side.

Swiftly, he kicked my corpse: "Are you joking? This is Jolene?!"
