Kanna’s Grand Rhodes Island Adventure

Suddenly, Kanna's ears twitched—she heard soft breathing not far ahead.

Tiptoeing closer, she spotted a young Vulpo girl sleeping soundly on the edge of a platform.

That light flaxen hair and vibrant youthful appearance made Kanna recognize her instantly—Perfumer Lena.

In the early days of the game, she had been Kanna's most trusted healer, helping her overcome countless challenges alongside Hibiscus.

That meant this place must be the greenhouse Lena had modified within Rhodes Island. No wonder there were so many varieties of flowers.

After curiously taking in the surroundings, Kanna quietly stepped back, careful not to disturb the fairy-tale-like scene of a sleeping beauty.

A little while later, Lena woke up, rubbing her eyes. She sniffed the air gently, frowning slightly—there was a different scent lingering.

Worried that a child might have wandered in to pick flowers, she quickly got up and walked outside.

But upon stepping out, she found nothing unusual. Apart from the faint, lingering scent in the air indicating someone had been here, everything looked exactly as it had before.

"This smell… a child? At least they didn't damage the plants. But I set up access restrictions—no one but official operators should be able to open this door without my permission."

Lena walked to the entrance and glanced around.

By then, Kanna had long left, leaving no trace behind.

After exiting the greenhouse, Kanna continued her adventure deeper into Rhodes Island.

Outside one of the doors, she noticed several automated robots moving in and out. Peeking inside, she saw a dozen workers sorting items delivered by conveyor belts, packing them into boxes.

Her gaze landed on the contents being packed—box after box of white sugar.

Watching the sugar being processed and packed, she guessed that this must be the Processing Plant—the facility responsible for refining materials needed for operators to level up and train skills in the game.

Glancing at a nearby shift schedule, she noted a standard three-shift rotation for the workers.

Kanna let out a sigh of relief. An eight-hour work system? Not bad.

She wasn't sure about holidays, but compared to 996 or even 007 schedules, this was already pretty humane.

Not to mention, it was far better than those black-hearted Doctors who constantly kept their infrastructure staff in the red zone.

Quickly passing by the Processing Plant entrance, Kanna continued deeper inside.

Inside the Processing Plant:

"Did anyone else see something just now? Something just moved past the entrance."

"Huh? Really?"

"No way. Other than those automated carts, the only ones passing through here should be us workers. Maybe your eyes are playing tricks on you from working too long. Want to take a break?"

"Haha, maybe… But nah, I don't need a break. This job isn't hard. It's already rare enough to find a place willing to take in us Infected and actually pay us. Slacking off would be a betrayal of their trust."

As they chatted, their hands didn't stop moving, and the conversation seemed to reinvigorate them.

Kanna sniffed the air.

It smells like the ocean.

Standing at a crossroads, she hesitated for a moment before heading toward a corridor carrying the faint scent of salty seawater.

The moment she stepped inside, she noticed a stark difference in the environment.

The most obvious change? Humidity.

As a medical facility, most of Rhodes Island was kept clean, well-ventilated, and dry.

But here…

Kanna frowned as she looked down at the thin layer of water pooling on the floor.

This corridor must have been specially modified.

It had a different humidity and temperature compared to the rest of the facility—likely a designated living area for Aegir and other amphibious races residing in Rhodes Island.
