Assignment of Attribute Points

As soon as they entered their courtyard,Vili saw a middle-aged man with a bare upper body, his figure lean and muscular, his skin tanned dark from the sun,and a beard covering his face.He was feeding the poultry in the yard with some feed. This was Lake, the father of Vili and Vilia.

"Father, look at what Vili and I brought back!"Upon seeing Lake,Vilia ran to his side with a show of pride.

Lake, looking at his innocent and cheerful daughter, simply smiled gently, patted Vilia on the head, and then turned his attention to Vili:"How are you feeling,Vili?Still not well?"

"I'm perfectly fine now,"Vili replied to Lake.

"Good to hear.Come inside and eat.Your mother must have prepared lunch by now."

Due to the relative scarcity of resources, commoners in the Lanso Principality only ate two meals a day, with lunch being the more substantial of the two.It was the only meal where one might find a few vegetable leaves.

"Father, you haven't seen what Vili and I brought back yet!"Seeing that Lake was about to dismiss her,Vilia quickly tugged at his arm, urging him to look at the baskets.

Lake chuckled helplessly and then turned his attention to the small basket on Vilia's back:"A full basket of sweet berries—what a good and hardworking child you are..."

"Hm?"Originally,Lake had only intended to humor Vilia's youthful enthusiasm. However, upon truly examining the sweet berries in the basket,he was surprised to find that they were remarkably plump, shiny, and exuded a rich, fruity aroma.

"Hurry up and come inside to eat,"a woman's voice called from inside the house.A woman wearing an apron and holding a spatula emerged from the house. This was their mother,Mrs.Sawin.

As Mrs.Sawin approached the baskets, she too noticed the exceptional quality of the sweet berries.

"The quality of these sweet berries is just outstanding. They'll fetch a good price for sure!"

Mrs.Sawin then verbally praised the two children:"Come inside and eat.If your father has time tomorrow or the day after,he can take these sweet berries to the town and sell them.I'll make sure he buys you a big loaf of white bread."

After putting away the baskets and washing their hands, the family of four gathered around the dining table.

On the worn wooden table, there was only a large bowl of vegetable soup and a few thick, hard bread cakes—nothing else.

Vili had been hungry, but seeing the meal laid out,his appetite suddenly waned.

Mrs.Sawin stood up and ladled a bowl of vegetable soup for each family member, distributing a bread cake to everyone.

The others ate without hesitation, accustomed to such meals, but Vili hesitated for a moment before picking up his bread cake.

He took a gentle bite and found that the bread not only had a slightly sour taste but also felt prickly in his mouth.Once chewed,it turned into crumbs that fell apart in his mouth.

He had to take a sip of the bland vegetable soup to mitigate the unpleasant texture.

"Father,Mother,I don't want to work in the fields anymore,"Vili said suddenly.

At his words, both Lake and Mrs.Sawin furrowed their brows, but they didn't explode in anger.Lake swallowed the crumbs in his mouth before speaking somewhat sternly,"Vili,if you're not fully recovered, you can stay at home and do some lighter tasks. But if you're trying to avoid work,I won't allow it."

Vili had anticipated this reaction from Lake and Mrs.Sawin.He explained,"It's not that.I just want to use the time I would spend working in the fields to gather sweet berries."

Gathering sweet berries?

Lake and Mrs.Sawin both felt that Vili was trying to shirk his duties.

Gathering sweet berries was merely a side job for the family, bringing in limited income. To Lake,it seemed like a waste of resources to have an almost fully-grown laborer like Vili picking berries—that was something for children like Vilia to do.

Lake thought his son was being unreasonable and was about to rebuke him,but Vili spoke first.

"Father,Mother, the high-quality sweet berries Vilia and I gathered today weren't a matter of luck. It's because I've learned how to identify the best sweet berry trees,"Vili said calmly.

Lake and Mrs.Sawin were both taken aback, and when they exchanged glances, they saw the doubt in each other's eyes.

"Vili, you're going too far!"Lake was genuinely angry.

He would not tolerate laziness or deceit in his family.

Identifying high-quality sweet berry trees? How could that be possible? Those trees all looked identical—no one could possibly distinguish between them.

"Father,Vili is telling the truth!"Vilia, who had been waiting for a chance to speak, quickly recounted in detail the amazing process of how Vili had identified the trees. She gestured animatedly as she spoke, adding exclamations of amazement that made Vili blush a little. When she finished, the dining table fell into silence.

Lake was speechless, his anger replaced by confusion.

Could it be possible that both his well-behaved children were lying at the same time? Was there a chance they were telling the truth?

"How did you do it?"Lake still couldn't shake his doubt.

"Observe more, summarize more, and practice more,"Vili repeated the same explanation he had given to Vilia earlier.

Another silence fell, and after a long while,Lake finally spoke:"Alright, here's what we'll do.Tomorrow, you and Vilia will go berry-picking again. If you can bring back high-quality berries once more,I'll let you stop working in the fields."

"Alright,Father."Vili smiled gently;he had achieved his goal.

"By the way, when you come back tomorrow, take the back road with Vilia.Don't let the other villagers see you,"Lake added.

"Understood,Father,"Vili replied.

Night fell.

Vili stayed in his room.To conserve resources,no candles were lit,and the room was dimly lit.Vili lay on his small bed.

"Right,I haven't used the attribute points I gained from the title yet,"Vili suddenly remembered and sat up on his bed.

With a flick of his mind, the attribute panel appeared before his eyes.

[Vili Fellen—Strength:0.8;Intelligence:1.2;Remaining Attribute Points:0.2]

"Where should I allocate these attribute points?"

He hesitated for only a moment before deciding to add all 0.2 points to his Strength.

First of all, because of his youth, his strength was still below that of an adult, but his intelligence was already above the average level of this world.Given his current situation,a strong body was more practical than a clever mind.

Second, there was another important reason that came from Vili's previous memories.
