"I am sorry, Mr. Winters," The doctor began, his voice steady but laced with regret. "I can't do anything about your sister. The rules are clear-no deposit, no operations. I have done everything in my power to keep her alive this long. Every ounce of skill I possess, I have poured it in trying to make sure that I would keep her alive. But now...." The doctor paused, his gaze dropping to the surface of his table. "Now, I'm pleading with you. If you wait any longer, you must understand-there is a real chance you might lose her."
Darius looked at the doctor. He swallowed hard. He knew that there was no way for him to even think of raising such a large amount of money in such a short time. "I understand, sir. I will look for a way to make sure that I get the money that you need for the operation."
"I know you are trying but please you must look for a way to make sure that she is okay." The doctor looked at Darius, he was trying to make sure that he would make Darius see that he needed to be going to look for a way and make sure that he prepared the money for his sister's health.
Darius stood up and walked out of the office slowly, he was not trying to even think about it he knew that if he was to waste time with what he was doing he might lose his sister.
He walked to a room, he paused there and took a deep breath before opening the door. "Hello Lena," Darius said looking in with a smile on his face, the last thing he would want to do is make his sister feel worried about a thing.
The girl turned slowly to look at Darius, she had a smile on her face when she saw that it was him. "Big brother, you came." Lena smiled while she was still looking at Darius, Lena was Darius' only family left and he was doing his best to make sure that she would get the treatment that she needed to survive.
"Of course I came, there is no way I would come here and not come to see you. You are my sister," Darius sat down beside his sister, he looked at her with a smile on his face.
"You are the only person I got left in the world so why do you think I wouldn't show up here after coming," Darius was looking at Lena, he was nervous and didn't know what he would say that might look a bit odd but he was not going to stand there and let her worry.
"So big brother, did you get enough money for the treatment? Will I be leaving here soon right?" Lena looked at Darius, her eyes were enough to make him feel like he needed to do more work to save her from that deadly situation.
Darius couldn't answer nor could he say anything to make her feel happy, he knew that there was no way for him to even make her see that he was trying his best to look for the money needed. "Don't worry, your big brother will find a way to make sure that you get the treatment soon and I will also make sure that you are out of this place in no time." Darius put a huge smile on his face, he was making sure that nothing was going to make him worry about his sister like that.
"You sure about that big brother?" Lena asked Darius looking at him with a strange look on her face, she wanted to know if he was trying to tell her that there would be a chance for her to leave the hospital.
"I will make sure that you get the treatment, and when you are out of here I will make sure that both of us go grab an ice cream cake." Darius smiled when he looked at his sister, he was not going to fail her and he was going to make sure that she was not going to be there for long.
Lena smiled, she was filled with joy when she heard her brother's promise knowing that he would do anything to make sure that he made her happy. "I love you, big brother you are the best person in the whole wide world," Lena said as she looked at her brother.
Darius patted her on the head, he then got up and turned to walk away. His heart was heavy and he was not thinking straight seeing Lena in that state made him see that there was nothing he could do at the moment.
'I can't let her down like this, I need her to be okay and I don't want anything to happen to Lena, she is the only one who can help me out and keep me from going insane in this mad world that we live in.' Darius was feeling bad when she thought about his sister, he was not going to find it easy thinking about something other than looking for a way to make sure that his sister was okay.
Darius was still thinking of what he was going to do to make sure that nothing was going to happen to Lena. He didn't know what he was going to do, no guild would go for a warrior in his dreadful rank nor would anyone look at him if they knew what he was and what he could do.
"This is a curse from you right universe? You have decided to curse me and make sure that there is no way for me to even think of saving her. I will do anything to make sure that I will save her from that state, so you are playing the wrong game with me. I will make sure that I look for a way to save her from this and there is nothing that will happen to her." Darius was talking to himself, he walked over to a stop and sat down to catch his breath.
It was there he saw something that was both intriguing and helpful to him at the moment, there was a raid going on close by and they had put up posters showing that they needed help to clear the dungeon. All ranks could go and the pay was twelve thousand dollars per person.
Darius stood there, lost in thought, he knew that there was a chance he was going to risk his life and make sure that he was going to be fighting creatures that could kill him in a heartbeat, it was going to be hard for him to even think of a way out than a way in.
But on the other hand, he was going to be getting enough money to make sure that his sister got the treatment, he was not going to be wasting his time looking at the poster and contemplating if he was going to take the risk.
"This has to be a sign from heaven, I am not going to let him walk past me like that. I will make sure that there is nothing going to make me worry about this, this might be the only chance I will get to make sure that Lena gets the treatment that she needs." Darius got up and rushed towards the area where the raid team was warming up.
He didn't have any formal gear making him look like he was a pushover, when he got to the mission the warriors looked at him. They were not even thinking what he could do.
"You will be helping with the luggage and cores we will get from this raid, you will be paid the same amount so don't worry we will make sure that you are fine. But just in case we are not close to helping you out." the guild vice master brought out a dagger and threw it to Darius, "This will help you fend off some beasts."
Darius caught the dagger, he was looking at it and he kept contemplating if he was going through with this. He looked around and saw that it was A to C-ranked warriors standing there and he was the only F rank there.
"I don't know what will happen, but it is too late for me to back down now. I will make sure that nothing holds me down." Darius held the dagger tight. He would make sure that nothing would make him fail to save his sister.
