Chapter 19: A New Experience

Jason stood outside the church, shifting uncomfortably as he glanced at the crowd of people walking in. It wasn't what he expected. He had imagined something strict and cold, but instead, there was laughter, warm greetings, and even kids running around.

"Nervous?" Noah asked, standing beside him.

Jason scoffed. "No. Just… I don't know. It's weird being here."

Noah smiled. "I get it. But you don't have to do anything. Just listen and see what you think."

Taking a deep breath, Jason followed Noah inside. The place was bright and welcoming. People greeted Noah with friendly waves, and Jason felt a few curious glances in his direction. He shoved his hands in his pockets, feeling out of place.

The service started with music. The band played soft, heartfelt songs, and the lyrics were displayed on a screen. Jason watched as people closed their eyes, some lifting their hands as they sang. He felt something unfamiliar—a sense of peace he couldn't quite explain.

When the pastor spoke, Jason found himself listening more than he thought he would. The message wasn't just rules or judgment—it was about hope, about a love that didn't depend on being perfect. The words stuck with him more than he wanted to admit.

After the service, Noah turned to him. "So? What did you think?"

Jason hesitated before answering. "It was… different. Not what I expected."

Noah grinned. "That's a good start."

Jason didn't say much else, but as they walked out of the church, he felt something shift inside him. Maybe—just maybe—this was worth exploring.
