Deeply Suspicion 2

Skyler's blood froze in her veins.

Her mind went blank for two seconds before she heard herself say, "No... I cleaned up the kitchen last night and went to bed. Why? Was there something going on upstairs last night?"

Logan didn’t respond for a long time on the other end.

It was so long that Skyler kept her head down, afraid to look up at his expression.

The pain on both sides of her cheeks had already gone numb, and she felt like she was about to faint from lack of oxygen.

Then suddenly, a low, cold voice came from above her head.

"No."

"But remember, the second floor is not where you belong. If I catch you sneaking up there, you better get out of here."

With that, the door slammed shut in front of her eyes.

This time, Logan had really left.

"Phew..." Skyler breathed heavily, feeling her whole body go limp.

Just now, her heart had almost jumped out of her throat.

Luckily, she didn’t give herself away.

"Hey, Skyler, how’s your 200,000 coming along? Don’t blame me for not telling you in advance, my mom just made a deal with the pawnshop. If you don’t come up with the money before six o’clock this afternoon, the ring will be gone."

Just then, Isabella’s call came in.

Skyler: "I'm still trying to raise the money. 200,000 is just too much. Isabella, can't you talk to your aunt and..."

"No! What’s our relationship? Do you really think I’m going to help you just because you used to be my spoiled little cousin?"

"I’m telling you, two hundred thousand, not a penny less! As soon as six o’clock hits, my mom will take the ring to the pawnshop. It’s up to you whether you want it or not!" Isabella hung up the phone with a snap.

Skyler’s temples throbbed. She wanted nothing more than to forget about the ring altogether. But something inside her told her she had to get it back.

She thought and thought.

She didn’t want to trouble the Clark siblings anymore, so she tried to borrow money from people she used to know.

"Get out of here! Our boss is not in the country. If you want to borrow money, go somewhere else. We don’t do charity here!"

This was already the umpteenth time today that Skyler had been ruthlessly kicked out of a company.

The other person was rough, and she was pushed so hard that she stumbled and fell down several flights of stairs.

"Ah!" She fell straight down, her forehead hitting the handrail hard.

Her vision went black, and blood gushed from her forehead.

"It’s not my fault! You didn’t stand steady!" The security guard who kicked her out panicked and quickly left.

Skyler sprained her ankle and lay on the steps for a long time, unable to get up.

Finally, the dizziness subsided, and she endured the pain and stood up with the help of the handrail.

It was almost six o’clock, and she still didn’t have enough money.

Just then, her phone vibrated.

Skyler picked up her phone, and a bank notification popped up on the screen. Her bank account had just received a cash deposit of two hundred thousand yuan.

Skyler: !!!

Two hundred thousand!

How could she have received so much money?

Who could have sent her this much money!?

Just then, the phone rang.

"Hey Skyler, did the two hundred thousand transfer go through?"

"Xiao Bo... no, Grandpa... is that you? You're the one who sent the money to my account!" Skyler held her phone, hardly able to believe it.

"Yes, why didn’t you tell Grandpa if you needed money? If it wasn’t for Elijah who happened to overhear someone talking about you needing money, I wouldn’t have known that my grandson’s wife needed to borrow money from outsiders."

"No... that's not it, Grandpa. I’m not borrowing money from anyone. I’m just raising investments." Skyler panicked for a second, quickly coming up with a reasonable excuse. She couldn’t let the old man get suspicious.

"Raising investments? You shouldn’t be looking for outsiders to invest. My grandson’s wife should have thought of her grandpa first when starting a business. Good granddaughter-in-law, no matter what you do, consider this two hundred thousand as Grandpa’s support for you."

"But Grandpa, I can’t use your money. I’ll transfer the money back to you right away..." Skyler protested.

The old master interrupted her, "No, you can’t do that. Whatever you do, consider this two hundred thousand as Grandpa’s support for you."

Old Master Wilson said, "Okay, if you don’t want your grandfather’s money, then I’ll call Logan and ask him how he’s been taking care of his wife! Logan didn’t even give you a black card and made you borrow money from others. It makes me so angry! I have to talk to him about this!"

Skyler’s heart was in her throat at Old Master Wilson’s words. She couldn’t let Logan find out about this. The cold, disdainful look Logan had given her before he left today lingered in her mind, almost constantly pricking at her nerves. She couldn’t let Logan underestimate her.

"Please... Grandfather, don’t call Logan," Skyler said. "I... I’ll take the money. Please don’t disturb him at work."

In the end, Skyler obediently accepted the 200,000 yuan from Old Master Wilson but insisted that it was just a loan and promised to pay it back in installments after she received her salary. Old Master Wilson eventually relented and promised not to tell Logan about this.

Meanwhile, at the sanatorium, Old Master Wilson’s face, which had been full of smiles just moments ago, suddenly turned cold after he hung up the phone.

"Elijah," he called his most loyal subordinate.

"Are you sure that when you saw Skyler today, she was pleading with someone instead of discussing business?" Old Master Wilson asked.

In fact, Old Master Wilson had deceived Skyler. Elijah, his subordinate, had seen Skyler being kicked out of a building by someone from a certain company today. He didn’t mention it on the phone just to save her face.

"Yes, I saw Young Madam being kicked out of that construction company today with my own eyes. I even asked the person in charge of the company, who said that Young Madam went there to borrow money," Elijah replied.
