The Storm Within

FREYA

“How did you do all that on that night?” Adrien asked as we snuck our way to the stables. “You're so delicate and small. I find it hard to reconcile you to the ferocious woman I witnessed.” I turned to see him cast a perusing look to the length of me.

He was very chatty tonight.

“I train,” I answered offhandedly and focused on the task at hand.

The stable hands would have retired for the night but any noise would alert them to our presence, and then the guards would follow.

My presence would not be of consequence, but the hulk of a man behind me?

The Adrien I knew would kill instantly if it meant his family would be safe. No one would survive seeing him.

This man obviously would not and things would quickly get messy. Needless to say, we had to avoid detection.

Time had passed, and our nightly rendezvous had continued—I made sure of it, but there were no signs of his memories after he recognized Killian.

I went low and signaled for him to do the same.
