“Adrien!” I shouted above the pounding of the hooves. “Adrien, I'm going to speak in your head.” And I dived in immediately; it was always best to warn him, but amidst the ongoing chaos, there was no time for the little formalities.

“We are going to engage, that's the solution. But I need you far from here, as you are key to ending this madness that has suddenly befallen us.” I tried to sound as calm as possible even if he did not need that.

“I'll cast a spell to conceal you among the trees. Hopefully, it'll hold.”

His arms around my waist tightened significantly. I could not decipher what he was trying to tell me, and it was impossible to have a conversation in this situation.

I quickly propelled Maya into the image of an area far from the battle area. Adrien got down immediately as we only had a few moments before the creatures came this way.

Quickly, I touched the tips of my fingers to his lush hair. “The gods be with you, my King.”
