Chapter 10: The Planet of Vampires

Chapter 10: The Planet of Vampires

Elara and Maya found themselves in a spaceflight facility orbiting near a planet shrouded in mystery, known to be inhabited by vampires. Instead of panicking, they decided to explore the facility. Floating through the air, Maya inspected the right side of the complex, while Elara walked along the left, using her telepathic ability to search for any signs of life.

Elara's telepathy revealed fleeting, vivid mental images, suggesting that the facility had been abandoned in a hurry. There were indications of recent habitation, yet no people in sight. She continued her exploration until she heard Maya calling out urgently.

"Elara! I found something interesting here!"

Elara wanted to check a nearby garden first but sensed the anxiety in Maya's thoughts. "She better come, she better come," Maya's mind repeated. Recognizing the urgency, Elara hurried to Maya's location, arriving within ten minutes.

Maya stood before a dozen vertical capsule beds filled with blue water—the same substance APGA used to induce abilities in Arcanians. Each capsule contained a clone of the teacher Merinkle.

"Can you detect their thoughts? Are they alive?" Maya asked, her voice tinged with both curiosity and concern.

Elara nodded. "Hmm, let me try. Wait, you have telepathy too, right?"

Maya sighed. "Yes, but I can't pick up thoughts clearly when they're sleeping."

"Maybe you can pick up future thoughts, or am I the rare case?" Elara wondered aloud.

"You are rare, Elara. Just try it."

Elara closed her eyes, focusing on one of the clones. As she delved into the clone's mind, vivid memories and dreams unfolded before her. Suddenly, the clone with the number 07712 on her right arm opened her eyes, the water around her bubbling.

"Wow," Maya exclaimed. "That one woke up when you read her mind."

The cloned Merinkle attempted to speak, but the capsule bed muffled her voice. Maya bravely touched a button, releasing the clone from the bed. As 07712 stepped out, an alarm blared, triggering the sudden appearance of numerous scientists who materialized from smoke.

The scientists, alarmed by the release of their experiment, quickly surrounded Elara, Maya, and the clone. Maya created a storm barrier, protecting them from potential laser, bullet, or other sophisticated attacks.

Elara used her telepathy to communicate with the apparent leader of the scientists. "Please, you misunderstand us. We are here to find our mother. We are part of the APGA organization."

The leader received Elara's message and gestured for the others to lower their weapons. Just as the tension eased, an invasion force of half-vampires breached the facility, their reasons unknown. The half-vampires launched a barrage of yellow energy attacks through the hole they had created.

Maya reacted swiftly, projecting an invisible force that repelled the attackers, causing them pain and forcing them to retreat momentarily. The scientists and the twins found themselves in a temporary lull, but the danger was far from over.

As the half-vampires regrouped for another assault, Elara and Maya prepared for the next wave. Elara focused her telepathy to anticipate the attackers' movements, while Maya enhanced her telekinetic shield, making it stronger and more resilient.

The scientists, now convinced of the twins' abilities and sincerity, began to assist them. They activated defensive systems and armed themselves with advanced weapons. The leader, a woman named Dr. Seraphine, introduced herself and explained the situation.

"We were experimenting with cloning to preserve essential knowledge and abilities. Merinkle was our test subject due to her unique skills and experience. The half-vampires discovered our work and want to use the clones for their own purposes."

Elara and Maya realized the gravity of the situation. They needed to protect the clones and the facility while finding a way to escape and continue their mission to locate their mother.

The half-vampires launched another wave of attacks, but this time, the combined forces of the scientists and the twins held them at bay. Elara used her telepathy to coordinate the defence, predicting enemy moves and directing the scientists' counterattacks. Maya's telekinetic shield repelled energy blasts, deflecting them back at the attackers.

During the intense battle, clone 07712, now fully awake and aware, joined the fight. She used her telekinetic abilities, similar to Maya's, to assist in repelling the half-vampires. Her presence bolstered the defenders, and her knowledge proved invaluable.

After a fierce struggle, the half-vampires retreated, leaving the facility damaged but intact. The immediate threat had been averted, but Elara, Maya, and the scientists knew it was only a temporary reprieve.

Dr. Seraphine turned to the twins. "We must find a way to leave this facility and reach a safe location. The half-vampires will return, and we need to protect the clones and ourselves."

Elara nodded. "We need to find our mother and figure out why APGA sent us here. There must be a reason."

The group quickly devised a plan to repair the damaged systems and prepare for departure. As they worked, Elara and Maya couldn't shake the feeling that their journey was far from over. The mysteries of the facility, the clones, and their mission to find their mother intertwined, leading them towards an uncertain but crucial future.

The twins and their new allies prepared for the next phase of their adventure. The spaceflight facility held many secrets, and the planet of vampires loomed nearby, a constant reminder of the dangers they faced. Together, they would uncover the truth and continue their quest, determined to protect their family and the legacy of the Arcanians.
