Can't Let You Tell Anyone

The Court Members then picked up a giant book, as he started too flip to it. "This is gonna take a few days, unthle we find out what Blue means, you all came leaves".

Back in the Roswaal Manchine, as Subaru finished explaining too Elsa, Meili, Rem, Ram, Lucifer, Otto and Feaderica, he had done explain the day's event.

Lucifer tilted his little head as he looked at Subaru. "It glowed Blue Big Brother".

"Yeah, it did. And now the court is scrambling through their big ancient book to figure out what the hell that means."

Meili, sitting cross-legged on the couch, poked at the air with a bored expression. "So, does that mean ya might be some kind of hidden prince or somethin'?"

Subaru rolled his eyes. "Please, no. The last thing I need is another reason for people to dump responsibility on me."

Ram sighed, crossing her arms. "Barusu, your luck is both a blessing and a curse. If this blue light means anything important, you'll find out sooner or later—probably the hard way."

Rem, standing nearby, smiled softly. "No matter what happens, Subaru-kun, we'll support you."

Federica nodded. "Indeed. If this revelation affects Lady Emilia's candidacy, we must be prepared for any political consequences."

Otto, who had been silently sipping his tea, finally spoke up. "The biggest question is—why did it glow blue for you and not Reinhard? He's literally the Sword Saint. If anyone should be getting some divine reaction from that insignia, it should be him."

Roswaal looked at Otto as he spoke. "Actually Felt Insignia also Glowed Blue for Reinhard as well, Subaru and Reinhard were the only two, the court tryed the same with Al, Julius, Ferris and Toga, but no glow from the other night of the candidate".

Subaru's eyebrows shot up. "Wait, hold on—so it wasn't just me? Reinhard's got the same reaction with Felt's insignia?"

Roswaal nodded with his usual eerie smile. "Indeeeed~ And that means there is something special about you and Reinhard specifically. The court is quite inteeereested in finding out why that is."

Otto frowned, rubbing his chin. "That complicates things. If it was just Subaru, then maybe we could chalk it up to his usual weird luck, but if Reinhard's involved too… this might be something related to the Royal Selection itself."

Subaru groaned, leaning back. "Great. Just what I needed—more political nonsense."

Rem tilted her head. "Subaru-kun, do you think this has something to do with your connection to the Witch Factors?"

Everyone in the room fell silent.

Subaru narrowed his eyes. "That's… possible, but if that were the case, shouldn't I be the only one triggering it? Reinhard has nothing to do with Witch Factors—he's practically a walking cheat code of divine blessings."

Roswaal chuckled. "Oooor~ it could be something even bigger than just Witch Factors. Something related to the very foundation of this Kingdom and its contract with the Dragon."

Subaru clicked his tongue. "Great. So now I have to worry about being some kind of Chosen One? I already have too much on my plate!"

Reinhard, who had remained silent, finally spoke up. "Regardless of what this means, I'll take responsibility if it affects Felt-sama's position in the Royal Selection. But I must admit, even I find this strange."

Felt scowled. "Tch. Don't go shouldering everything yourself, you muscle-brained knight. If this blue glow means somethin' important, we'll figure it out together."

Subaru sighed, rubbing his temples. "Well, at least I'm not the only one caught up in this mess. But until the court figures it out, I guess we just have to wait."

Roswaal grinned. "Ooor~ you could investigate on your own. If the court finds out something you don't like, wouldn't it be better to be prepared?"

Subaru narrowed his eyes. "You're up to something, aren't you?"

Roswaal simply chuckled.

Otto sighed. "Well, if we are investigating this, I'm going to need a lot more paperwork done. And a raise."

Subaru smirked. "Yeah, yeah. Welcome to my life, Otto."

Lucifer looked up from Subaru's lap. "So… does this mean Big Brother and the Sword Saint are the same?"

Subaru immediately shook his head. "Oh hell no. Reinhard's a walking legend. I'm just some unlucky bastard who keeps surviving crazy situations."

Reinhard gave a small smile. "I think you're underselling yourself, Subaru."

Subaru sighed. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's just prepare for whatever nonsense comes next."

Meanwhile with the Royal Court, as only two members were left checking theye big Book, as they found a page, as one of the eyes opens in shock and imagement

The Court Members spoke. "That is amazing, this is great we must tell him".

The one helping a younger woman spoke. "It is but too bad I can't let you tell anyone".

The Court Members looked as she ready too pull out his sword, but then dagger stabbed into his neck as the woman looked at him, as his body fell to the ground as the his blood spread though the ground as she ripped the pages asn burned as she then jumped out the window, nobody knew she was helping him so no one will suspect him.

The next morning, the entire Kingdom of Lugunica was in an uproar. The assassination of a Royal Court member, especially one investigating the mysterious blue glow of the insignias, had thrown the court into chaos. Rumors spread like wildfire—was it an internal political move? An attack by a foreign power? Or something even more sinister?

At Roswaal's mansion, Subaru held the morning newspaper, his eyes narrowing as he read the headline.

"Royal Court Member Found Dead—Investigation Ongoing"

His grip on the paper tightened. "Oh, come on! I knew this was gonna be some kind of grand conspiracy!"

Ram, standing nearby, sipped her tea and spoke in her usual monotone. "What did Barusu expect? The Royal Court is always scheming. If they found something important, someone would make sure it never left that room."

Emilia frowned, worry evident in her eyes. "Subaru… do you think this has to do with your insignia glowing blue?"

"Of course, it does!" Subaru snapped, running a hand through his hair. "I knew something was fishy the moment that book took 'a few days' to check. Somebody found something important, and someone else didn't want that information getting out."

Otto groaned. "Fantastic. So now we're not just dealing with the Royal Selection—we're dealing with assassins too? My stress levels can't handle this!"

Subaru ignored Otto's complaints and turned to Roswaal. "Alright, creepy clown, do you have any idea what this could mean?"

Roswaal, for once, looked genuinely intrigued. "Hmmm~ If the Royal Court was looking into ancient records, then whatever they found was old. Perhaps something tied to the very founding of the kingdom itself?"

Subaru sighed. "Great. More ancient history nonsense. Just what I needed."

Beatrice, sitting nearby with her arms crossed, looked unusually serious. "In fact, if they went through that much trouble to erase the information, it means it was something big, I suppose."

Lucifer, sitting on Subaru's lap, tilted his head. "Big Brother, does this mean someone is going to try and stop you from finding out?"

Subaru sighed, rubbing Lucifer's head. "Kid, someone's already dead over this. If we dig too deep, we might be next."

Emilia's expression hardened. "Then we have to be careful. If someone is hiding the truth, we need to find out why."

Subaru smirked. "Yeah, but let's not get killed doing it, okay? Time to do some digging—our way."

Meanwhile in the Felt camp, Felt was Infront of the door stopping Reinhardt form going out.

Felt looked at him as she spoke. "You are not going out".

Reinhard looked down at Felt, his expression as calm as ever, but there was a slight hint of concern in his eyes. "Felt-sama, with all due respect, this is a serious matter. A Royal Court member has been assassinated, and if it relates to the glowing insignias, then—"

Felt cut him off, crossing her arms. "Then it's none of our business!"

Reinhard blinked. "It very much is our business."

Felt clicked her tongue. "Tch. Listen, I ain't stupid. If that guy got killed just for looking at some old book, then someone powerful wanted him dead. You? You're the freakin' 'Sword Saint.' If you go poking around, they'll know something's up. And if they think you know too much..."

Reinhard remained silent for a moment before sighing. "You believe I'll become a target?"

Felt frowned. "Not just you, dumbass. Me, too! I don't wanna wake up with a knife in my throat 'cause my overpowered knight got too curious!"

Reinhard lowered his gaze. "I understand your concern, but if this connects to the Royal Selection, then we must—"

Felt stomped her foot. "No! We wait! Let the dust settle first, then we figure out our next move. Got it?"

Reinhard hesitated before nodding. "Understood, Felt-sama."

Felt huffed. "Good. Now sit your ass down and have a drink or something. You're making me nervous."

Reinhard gave a small smile. "As you wish."

Felt looked at her knight as she spoke. "Listen or so easy too but 2 and 2 together, both my and Emilia Insignia Glows Blue in your and Subaru hand, and that guy was investigating the damm light and now today a Pages too that damn book he was looking through is ripped and missing and he is found dead".

Reinhard sighed, rubbing his temples. "Yes, Felt-sama, it is suspicious. But without knowing what was on that missing page, we can't be sure what it meant."

Felt clicked her tongue. "Tch. We ain't stupid, Reinhard. Someone really didn't want that info getting out. And you know what that means?"

Reinhard met her gaze. "That whatever it was… it was important enough to kill for."

Felt nodded. "Exactly. And guess what? Me and Emilia are the only ones whose insignias turned blue when you and Subaru held 'em. You don't need to be a genius to see that we're connected to whatever secret got that old man killed."

Reinhard crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. "Which means… someone might try to silence you next."

Felt smirked. "Now you're catching up, genius. And you know what that means for us?"

Reinhard's grip on his sword tightened. "We need to be careful. Very careful."

Felt nodded. "Yeah. But more than that… we gotta find out what they didn't want us knowing. And if Subaru's thinking the same thing I am, we ain't the only ones digging for answers."

Meanwhile in the Crusch Camp, she was also looking at paper as she sighed. "Will isn't this a shame, he was family friend".

Ferris, sitting nearby, frowned as he read over the news report. "That's putting it lightly, Crusch-sama. He wasn't just a family friend—he was one of the most trusted members of the Royal Court. And now he's dead, just when he was about to reveal something important."

Crusch placed the paper down, her emerald eyes sharp with thought. "It's too convenient, Ferris. The timing is deliberate. This wasn't just an assassination—it was a cover-up."

Ferris's ears twitched. "And let me guess, you think Subaru and Reinhard's weird glowing insignia trick is involved?"

Crusch nodded. "It's the only thing that changed recently. And now the only person who could have explained it is gone."

Ferris sighed, resting his chin on his hand. "So what's the plan, then? You wanna investigate, or are we leaving it alone?"

Crusch closed her eyes for a moment before responding. "We don't have enough information yet, and whoever did this clearly doesn't want us to find out. That means we need to be smart about this."

She opened her eyes, determination shining through. "For now, we'll keep our ears open. But if Subaru or Reinhard uncover something, we'll be ready."

In the base of the Witch's Hand, they got a latter form Subaru as Ivan read as he sighed. "Hey Guy's don't worry Boss is still alive".

Ivan held up the letter as the other members of the Witch's Hand gathered around, looking eager and anxious.

One of them, a burly man with a scar over his nose, crossed his arms. "What does the boss say?"

Ivan sighed again and read aloud.

*"To my dear subordinates (who I hope haven't burned the base down in my absence),

I'm still alive, obviously. The Royal Selection has taken an… unexpected turn, and I need to stay put for now. Some strange things are happening with the Insignias, and a member of the Royal Court just got offed before revealing something important.

Stay alert. I have a feeling things are going to get a lot messier real soon.

Subaru"*

A silence fell over the room as the members processed the message.

The scarred man grunted. "So, basically, the boss is knee-deep in some royal nonsense again."

A younger recruit gulped. "And someone killed a Royal Court member? That's bad, right?"

Ivan rolled his eyes. "Of course it's bad. Someone clearly doesn't want the truth coming out."

The scarred Man looked at Ivan. "So now what"

Ivan looked at him as he spoke. "Boss is gonna hate me for this, Miss Shaule and a few of our required members got world a witch cult so she is investigating that with Halibal, so we will... Investigate who ever the kill the Royal Court Member".

The scarred man grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Now that's more like it. We finally get to do something instead of just sitting on our asses."

Ivan sighed. "Yeah, yeah, just don't go making a mess. We need to be subtle about this. No unnecessary fights, no getting caught, and definitely no leaving trails back to us."

A few of the members chuckled at that. They knew Ivan was just covering his own ass because Subaru would tear into him if things went sideways.

The hooded woman from earlier, Tessa, leaned back against the wall. "So, where do we start? We don't even know who had a reason to kill the Court Member."

Ivan pulled out a map of the Royal Court's compound and laid it on the table. "We start by retracing his last movements. Someone destroyed those book pages before he could tell anyone what he found, which means whoever did it was either watching him closely or was working from the inside."

The scarred man, Rolf, scratched his chin. "An inside job, huh? You think it was an assassin, or someone in the Court who wanted that info buried?"

"Both are possible," Ivan admitted. "But let's focus on the assassin theory first. If someone was hired to take the Court Member out, they probably left some sort of clue. Even pros make mistakes."

Tessa smirked. "Then it's a good thing we aren't amateurs."

Ivan nodded. "Exactly. Now, we move fast. If the boss finds out we're doing this behind his back, he'll be pissed, but if we don't do it and something worse happens, he'll be even angrier."

Rolf clapped Ivan on the shoulder. "Then let's make sure we get results before he finds out."

Ivan looked at Rolf as he spoken. "Rolf you are a novel right".

Rolf looked at him as he spoken. "Yeah, me and my whole family, the reason we joined this group is too get revenge for the Witch Cult".

Ivan looked at him as he spoke. "Will no need too give your full back story, you and your family will investigate in the light and we will investigate in the shadow".

Rolf smirked. "Got it. We play the nobles while you play the ghosts. Shouldn't be too hard."

Ivan nodded. "Exactly. Your family has the connections to get into the Court's circles without raising suspicion. Meanwhile, we'll dig around in the dark, follow any leads that pop up."

Tessa crossed her arms. "And what about the Witch Cult? If this was their doing, we might be walking straight into their trap."

Ivan exhaled. "That's why we move carefully. We don't engage unless necessary. If this wasn't them, then we have an even bigger problem—someone inside the Court itself is covering something up."

Rolf clicked his tongue. "Either way, it means someone doesn't want Subaru knowing the truth."

Ivan smirked. "Which means we definitely have to find out what it is."

With that, the Witch's Hand split into two teams—one moving through high society, the other through the underbelly of Lugunica. The hunt had begun.
