Ch-25 HORROR

Ch-24

[Bullseye POV]

There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing a knife leave my fingers and find its home exactly where I want it. It's an art. A dance. A little flick of the wrist, a little calculation, and a little magic.

Shame it ain't working on this guy.

Noctis.

What kind of name is that? Sounds like some wannabe, edgelord. But the way he moves? The way he fights? Nah, he's the real deal. Which is why I'm keeping my distance. I could feel he was holding back punches when he was fighting me but after Mary came, he started going all out.

I flick a blade his way, dead centre, right between the eyes. He doesn't dodge. Doesn't even blink. Just tilts his head a little as the knife bounces off his damn mask like I threw a toothpick at a tank. The hell is that thing made of?

I don't stop, though. I never stop. Another knife, then another, aiming for soft spots…the throat, the joints, the little gaps where armour tends to give way. Doesn't matter. They bounce off, stick into his armour, or he just moves through them like they don't exist.

I hate guys like that.

But that's what Mary's for.

She's all over him, her blades flashing in the dim alley light, slicing through the air with a heat that makes the night itself sweat. Noctis meets her head-on, dodging, weaving, parrying her strikes with these smooth, controlled movements, like he's sparring, not fighting for his life. That's gonna change real quick.

Mary doesn't fight fair.

She feints low, goes for a slash at his leg, then twists at the last second, catching him across the chest. The cut doesn't go deep, his armour's too thick but she grins like she's already won. Her other hand flares up, flames licking across her fingertips before she thrusts them forward. He phases through the physical attacks but cannot phase through her telekinesis.

Noctis leaps back, the fire barely missing him. Smart. Real smart. But not fast enough. Mary's already on him again, forcing him to stay back, keeping him from getting any closer to me. I notice how he is moving around as if trying to plan an escape, to the center of this massive warehouse. How stupid.

That's right, buddy. Stay where you are.

I send another knife his way, and this time, he does react by batting it away with his arm like it's an annoying fly. Huh. Maybe he's starting to get annoyed. Good. That's when people start making mistakes.

Mary twirls, her blade coming in high, while a burst of fire lashes out low. Noctis twists to avoid the flames, but the blade still catches him, slicing across his shoulder. I hear a sharp breath, but he doesn't slow down. Instead, he presses forward.

And then he's moving towards me, fast. Too fast. Mary intercepts, flames roaring to life in her hands as she slashes between us, forcing Noctis back. Mary glances at me..

That's my cue.

I leap out of the warehouse to call Mr. Fisk to send backup.

"Hello, Poindexter," came the voice of James Wesley.

"Mary and I are engaged in a situation with Noctis. We need backup urgently," I told him in a hurry.

"…", after a moment of pause

"Elektra is nearby. We can ask her to assis—"

"Can't you send someone from the Hellfire Club? If we want to take him down for good, we need more power. I suspect he is a mutant!" I said, knowing well that Elektra would only serve as a minor distraction like me. We need some heavy hitters.

"I see, but even if I contact them, there is no way they will come that soon," came his calm voice from the other side.

CRRRAAAASSSHHH—

I turned around and saw the warehouse crashing down. I stepped away a few paces.

"Hello, Wesley—" I looked at my phone, which was not working properly. The screen flickered with static before turning off. I took out my backup phone, but even that wasn't working.

Phasing through the collapsed warehouse came Noctis. He stepped towards me and looked me dead in the eyes. I could smell something weird emanating from him…

A chill ran down my back. I had never been so scared—my hands started shivering.

"WHO IS SUPPLYING THE WEAPONS?" he screamed at me. "TELL ME!"

I couldn't tell him the name of the suppliers. Those ninjas would kill me.

"TELL ME, OR I WILL BREAK YOUR LEFT ARM TOO!!"

Left arm too?

CRUNNNCHHHH—

AAAAAAGGGGHHHH—

I screamed in pain, and my fear was increasing along with the agony. I looked at my forearm…it wasn't just fractured; it was crushed. He held it so tight…

Tears started rolling down my eyes. "I don't know the details, but it was some ninjas."

I could hear police sirens nearing the port. I looked at him. He pulled out a knuckle with his emblem on it, which started heating up. He pressed it against my forehead, branding me with searing pain.

GGHA— ISSS—

"Strike one. Two more and you die," he said.

I tried to look up at him, but he wasn't done.

He grabbed my collar and pulled me up slightly, his masked face inches from mine. "If I find out you're lying…" his voice was low, a growl that made my stomach churn.

Then he let me go, dropping me like trash onto the cold, hard ground. My body trembled from the pain, my vision blurry from tears and the burning mark on my forehead.

I heard the police surrounding the port, their shouts growing louder. My breath hitched as I tried to move, but my crushed arm made it nearly impossible. I forced myself to stay still, praying they'd get here before Noctis changed his mind.

Then, just like that… he was gone.

Never had I ever been so glad to see the cops.
