Chapter 30

(A/N: It's been a long time coming and I REALLY hope I did it well. Around 60k words lol. It isn't grand or with much flair. But I think it's what best matches the way they are and the nature of their relation. It's sudden, simple explosiveness.

P.S: I'm about to either get 1-star review bombed and absolutely shit on for ruining the story, or praised. A bit nervous honestly. No, scratch that, completely terrified.)

I put my aviators back on.

There were two ways to go about dealing with the unwanted attention.

One option, the smarter option, was to hijack the spell. I'd already reverse-engineered it... but that ran the risk of alarming its current caster even if it gave me access to constant surveillance over everything.

The other option was the one I decided on the second the thought crossed my mind.

Casually, I wandered up to one of the angels, a hooded creature with wings holding a lantern aloft, making sure to clack my steps on the marble floor. For all intents and purposes, I was certain it looked like I was merely curious... but, the second I neared it, I turned my back to it, hid its 'eyes' before gesturing to the one beside me with my head.

Luviagelita blinked. Then, she did the same, mouthing a simple 'why' as she walked.

I just raised my hand, manipulating my flame-based 'spell' to 'write' floating letters against my palm.

'Watching us, through them.'

If she was surprised, she certainly didn't show it. With atypical grace she stomped to the middle of the room and spun with a flourish, hand held out.

"How unsightly! Truly, how unsightly! Such utter lack of any taste or beauty. I am well and truly insulted!"

Truth be told, I wasn't sure if she was just acting. That was just how she was after all. A 'noble'. But then there was the fact that one of her briefcases were reserved solely for the cheap teddy I'd won her at the random crane claw game.

A weird girl... but hopefully, my weird girl some day.

"Ah! Henry!"

I perked up.

"Would you be a dear and toss them out for me? Out of the window, if you will. Since this place will be mine, I don't think anyone should mind."

So... we weren't just having the servants move them?

Oh she knew me so well.

I grinned, reinforcing my arm strength, and gave a pronounced bow, hand held to the side and all.

"Of course, my dear lady."

When I was done tossing them out the window, the Sun had set. There were just THAT many of the damn things in the room. Hey, I wasn't complaining, it was fun tossing out the expensive things KNOWING whoever was on the other end had to be malding.

Luviagelita sat comfortably on the bed, watching me work with a strange expression.

By the end, it looked habitable, if not a bit empty because of the suddenly glaring lack of furniture other than a fireplace, a study table and the aforementioned king-sized bed.

I reached for the white wooden door... the poor londoner in me wallowing in disgust at the sort of wealth these codgers were hoarding. Seriously, who made doors lined with gold?

"I guess I'll take my leave then. See if the servants will give me a room. Night."

"...You can stay!" Luviagelita yelped, her face uncertain, as if even she didn't know where that came from.

"Look, Luviagelita..." I sighed. "I know I joke about it, but saying that with THAT face really might give a poor ass like me some wrong ideas."

"A-After all you've said to me... you can't just-" She cut herself off, her gaze downcast and her pale skin so tinted it looked like she was about to burst. "Y-You're a simpleton."

She said that a lot.

I craned my neck, "...I don't think that's a compliment."

At that, she just exploded.

"You like cheap food. You wear cheap things. You don't shut up. You don't have any tact or delicacy. Saying whatever you want all the time... You hit me like I'm some commoner. You're terribly petty."

This really... was not an explanation at all. If anything, she was just listing off the traits that made me something of an asshole.

"...You see me as just a woman... even though... even though I should be someone who by nature looks down on you as a commoner."

She should be what now?

"You... don't lie... You should hate me for being an aristocrat... but you don't... You have the courage to live the life you want. And you chose to defend me... someone you knew to be a spy..." She clenched a handful of her dress in her fists, crumpling the expensive cloth, "Around you, I can't be a noble-... I can't be who I should be as an Edelfelt... As one of high birth... I'm forced to be myself..."

She looked up at me... and her eyes seemed to shimmer, a thin, defeated smile betrayed her.

"But I don't dislike that... I... I love it. I love being around you. I love cheap remarks. Irrational competition. Cheap food. The simple way of being. I want to live like that... with you."

In typical noble fashion, she'd latched onto the one thing that made the burden of her responsibilities as one disappear if only for a moment. I could understand it. It wasn't my intention... I'd just thought I was a muse... but this was...

"So... you like me cause I'm an asshole? "

Her eyes went wide in shock. An awkward quiet fell in the room. Then, suddenly, a soft giggle broke through the silence as she wiped her watery eyes.

"...You're such an ass."

Making up my mind, I stepped over to her, plopping down beside her.

I wanted to say I was nonchalant but my hands were trembling and I was having a lot of trouble finding the right words for such a fierce expression of emotion. But, it was so like her to clam up and then randomly explode that I couldn't help but smile.

With a deep breath, I took her hand in both of mine.

"Look... Your station is way beyond mine... Realistically, there's no way for me to answer without causing problems..."

For a moment, she looked crestfallen and tried to get up. But I wasn't about to let this turn into a misunderstanding. I grabbed her hand and pulled her back down. That ended with her falling on me, pushing me down on my back instead with her on top, all red-faced and stuttering. Now, Luviagelita wasn't just hot in her way of being, she had an insane body too.

The sort that made a young man like myself have all sorts of strange reactions.

I regathered myself, and spoke earnestly, "But I will reach that height, if you can be patient. A height where you'd be proud to declare it to the world. Cause I can't imagine a day without you chiding me or laughing with me either."

In my two concurrent lives, I'd never found a person like this, never a connection at this level. And... I didn't want to let it go even if it was selfish or wanton or whatever. I was a man who'd long decided to live by my desires.

"I... don't need you to." She whispered.

"What was that?"

"I don't need you to... I don't... care for opinions. You should know... this."

"But you said you'd marry someone of high-class. A gentleman. I'm neither."

"I-I don't care anymore. I like.... I love the stupid Londoner... Everyone needs to deal with it... Y-You showed me this."

Her eyes glazed over. And slowly, she closed the distance between us until her-

Waver burst through the fucking door, Gray at his heel. His face went red seeing us and he immediately raised his hands to block his eyes.

Oh my fucking God he cockblocked me.

"For your Queen!"

A Gandr shot burst through the air. He fell back on his ass just in time to narrowly avoiding having his head blown through. It shattered much of the wall instead.

"Scorch and sunder."

Then he rolled to the side to avoid the spiral of red-hot flames that melted stone. Those came from me.

Even Grey didn't think to interfere this time, too stumped to move.

"Wait-...I'm sorry! I'm sorry! But this is my room!"

"What in the world are you talking about?!" Luviagelita shouted back at him, firing another two Gandr shots at him. He quickly groped along his coat to retrieve his invitation letter, pointing a trembling finger at the golden letters.

"Michael! See?!"

"That says Mihael you dumb cun-..."

I calmed myself with a deep breath.

"Wait what?" He flipped the letter with disbelieving eyes. Dread overtook his features as he realised his mistake. Then even more dread when lightning rumbled in the room, specifically, along my arms.

"...It appears I have made a continuous and severe lapse in my judgement. I would like to offer my sincerest apologi-"

Grey was the smart one in that partnership. She grabbed her Master by the shoulder and leapt out of the room in a flash, slamming the door behind her.

The petty bitch that I was, I was definitely going to make him suffer for this cockblocking of immense proportions... but not right now, right now, I had more important matters to attend to.

Such as the incredibly beautiful woman fiddling with a lock of her golden blonde hair beside me, squirming with her eyes averted and her face flushed.

"I guess it's true... assholes do get the girls."

"S-Shut u-..."

When she turned to reprimand me, I held her by the chin and took her soft red lips. There was the faint taste of strawberries to them. A brief surprise flashed through her eyes before she leaned in as my other hand crept around her, pulling her closer.

Shamelessness did have its uses, didn't it?

"I love you too."

Compared to her, my words were direct... but she smiled brightly, because she knew that that was just who I was.
