The Unseen Game

Kieran's POV

I boiled with anger. Sienna was gone and my men had let her slip so easily.

They were sloppier and stupid than I expected.

I clenched my fists at my sides, wanting to hit something but I kept my calm.

My men lowered their heads and I looked around in anger. They shifted slightly anytime I got closer to any of them.

"Is this how you intend to protect the pack?" I asked.

They remained quiet and Darius stepped forward. "She couldn't have gone far, alpha," he said. "I have sent some men to the border."

"If she isn't found before the sun goes down, then you'll have to suffer. Do I make myself clear?" My voice thundered and they nodded.

"Yes, alpha," they answered.

"Find her, now!" I ordered and they dispersed.

Darius looked at the men and back to me. "Aren't you taking it out on them a little too much? She's just one wolf."

I let my eyes for the talking and he swallowed.

I kept quiet, not wanting to lash out and walked out of the packhouse. The men followed behind me and we moved into the woods.

I kept searching, knowing she was still weak and couldn't run that far when my ears caught the sound of moving water.

I turned to see the cliff and I remembered the night I had saved her from falling off it.

What if she had fallen?

I rushed to the edge of the cliff, checking to see if she would be hiding down, but it was only water and sand.

The river waves moved peacefully. I was about to leave when I noticed a torn piece of cloth. It was the same as the one Sienna had worn.

My heart raced and I ran down to the end of the cliff, moving through the rocks. I reached for the piece of cloth, touching the fabric.

I hissed, throwing the cloth on the floor. My eyes caught the footprint on the soil. They looked a bit old, not more than some hours ago. They looked uneven, the type when someone lost his balance.

Then there was another, much larger and looked like a man's. I followed the footprints going into the woods.

Someone had pulled her out for the river and taken her away. I grew angrier and crouched down, touching the footprints.

My senses worked, picking up their scent. I stood, following their smell deeper into the woods.

The trees were thicker and taller on this side of the woods and I continued moving as fast and silent as I could.

And after a few minutes, I saw it. A large castle. I knew the moment I stepped a foot away from the trees, staring at the old dark castle that I had crossed into the Blackthorne's territory.

I looked down, realising the footprint had also stopped here. The vampires and werewolves were never friends.

I heard my men arrive, standing behind me and Darius walked to my side.

"Have you got her scents, Alpha?" He asked.

"Yes," I answered. "She's in there."

"Oh no," he muttered and the remaining wolves murmured among themselves.

"What's the plan?" Darius asked, looking at the castle ahead.

"We can't go in unannounced," I said, calming the anger in me.

Darius arched his brow. "Since when do we ask for permission?"

"It's their law and their grounds. You only come to them through an invitation and I agree with them," I said, in a low voice.

"Storming in is calling for a war. I'm not about to break a hundred year peace treaty," I added.

Darius held my gaze for a moment, then nodded. "So, what do we do?"

"We send a message," I answered. "Tell Caius Blackthorne that I request to meet him immediately."

Darius hesitated, taking out his phone. "And if he refuses?"

I answered, turning away for a moment then looked back at him. "He won't. He has what I want."

Darius nodded, dialing a number and I turned my gaze to my men. "Return to the packhouse and guard it. I don't want any more mistakes. I'll handle this."

They nodded and disappeared, one after the other, leaving Darius and I at the enemy's territory.

Darius hung up on the phone and looked at me. "Now what?" He asked.

"We wait."

The words had barely made theory seconds out of my lips when my phone rang. I smiled, looked down and unlocked the screen.

"I'm waiting," it read. It was from a Caius and I slipped my phone back into my pocket.

"Hold on, a damn second. I know that look. You're not thinking of going in there alone are you?" Darius asked.

"I am," I answered.

"What if something happened to you? Then our pack would be without a leader," he answered.

"I have no intention of dying. Not today. We can't break the treaty yet," I announced and started walking.

"At least let me come with you," Darius yelled.

"Why the hell did you think I let you stay back?" I said, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
