The Edge of Fury

Kieran's POV

Darius and I stood at the huge castle gate and I rang the bell. It was ancient just like the castle.

The door opened inwardly and echoed as it cracked the stone on the floor. We instinctively exchanged a glance and once the door touched the wall, we stepped in.

The passageway was decorated in a modern style and I was pleased with that. I wasn't about to cry a flame torch around.

The air smelt old with incense and a tall, slender pale man came to us. "Welcome, Alpha Kieran," he greeted. "And to you, Darius."

"Please, this way. Lord Caius is waiting," the man said, gesturing for us to follow him.

We followed silently and walked on the polished stone floor. The corridor led us to a large meeting hall with vintage chandeliers hanging from the ceilings.

There he was seated at the far end of the hall, on a black marble chair.

"Caius," I said and the pale messenger bowed and left. He looked just as dead as everyone in this castle.

"Kieran Draven Wolfe," Caius said, smiling in his chair. "What brings you to my castle?"

I wasn't in the mood to talk anymore and said my mind. "I want Sienna back. I know you have her."

"That's quite an accusation," he answered.

"I don't need to accuse you for anything. I know I am saying," I responded calmly.

"So, it seems," Caius replied and rested his arms on the chair handle.

"Don't test our patience," Darius warned. He hated the vampires, maybe even more than I did.

"Why not? You're testing mine," Caius answered and Darius growled. He lost his temper and lunged forward, ready to attack, but I held him back blocking his path with my arm pressed on his stomach.

"That's enough, Darius," I hissed. "We came to talk, not fight."

Caius scoffed, and his smile widened. "It doesn't seem like it. You bring your own man in my territory to harm me."

I knew he was taunting me and my control. Caius was older than the both of us and was clever enough to trick us until our time was wasted. I couldn't leave the packhouse without a leader for too long or the wolves became restless.

I neglected my pride and swallowed. "I apologize for his temper. He's young," I said calmly.

"So are you," he answered, looking at me with his red eyes.

How could someone be nearly three hundred years old and still look like he was twenty five.

"My request still stands. I will not leave until I have Sienna with me," I said.

"Fine then," he said. "But are you ready to give me what I want in exchange for her."

"What the hell do you want, you devil?" Darius asked, speaking with hatred.

Caius laughed. It was short and mocking. "I can see why she accepted to be my mate. You must have acted like dogs, threatening her to do your will."

Lies. All he said were lies.

"Sienna would never…" I said, but he interrupted.

"Is that so? Then tell me why she agreed to be bounded to me?" Caius asked.

"Wolves and vampires have nothing in common. You're a pathetic old liar," Darious spat.

"But she's not an ordinary wolf, is she?" Caius asked.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Darius asked, surprise in his voice.

I couldn't let Darius find out yet. There were many trying to use her for their selfish gains. I had once thought about it, but not anymore. I was wrong.

"He didn't tell you, did he?" Caius continued.

"Enough with your tricks, Caius and give her back to me," I warned.

He stayed quiet, then a smirk appeared on his face. "You'll have to fight me first."

That was all it took to have Darius snarling and running towards him to attack. He was foolish relying on his emotions, because he gave Caius exactly what he wanted.

I watched Caius move with supernatural speed. Daria was slower and when he struck, Caius easily dodged and retaliated with a precise blow that sent Darius staggering, and he fell hitting the cold stone floor with a thud.

"Darius!" I roared, advancing forward but I restrained myself from attacking. Anger wouldn't solve the problem now. I needed to get Caius' weakness.

He was fast and even if a werewolf's bite was lethal to him. I still needed to be as fast or faster than him to strike him. And I didn't want to kill him and revoke the peace treaty between the supernatural world.

"What are you waiting for, Alpha? Don't hold back on my account," Caius said, smiling proudly as he knocked out Darius.

"Oh, you must be worried about us making a hybrid baby," he mocked. "If it's not that, then it must be a recollection of your memory isn't it?" He asked.

"Losing your best friend, just like you lost her now," he added, chuckling lightly.

I had just enough of his rambling and my blood rage moved quickly. My body shifted to my half form. I wanted to still be in control. My fans grew with my nails and I attacked, striking harshly at him.

He was fast, dodging my attacks. We were equally matched and I hated that. I wouldn't lose to him. Not now, not ever.

He moved quickly avoiding my attacks and claws, and drove his claws down, missing me by chance.

My anger rose, and I struck at him, pushing him off till we crashed on the large wooden table.

We recovered quickly, moving a few apart from each other. "Let's finish this," I growled.

"Likewise," Caius responded and we ran towards each other, bearing our fangs and raising our claws to strike.

He missed, and I landed a blow, scratching his arms and he groaned staggering back. The next strike came faster, shocking him and sending him crashing back for some seconds.

He growled, getting up and moved. He was faster than he had been earlier and struck me on the arm. It bled and I threw him to the end of the room.

We bared our claws and raised it ready to strike each other when her voice rang out. "Stop!"
