Chapter 4: Into the Cyber Death Zone

The dust settled as the last of the Elite Hunters collapsed, sparks flying from their cybernetic limbs. My breathing was ragged, my grip on the energy blade shaky. Specter stood beside me, reloading his dual pistols with a practiced flick of his wrist.

"Not bad, rookie. But this was just the tutorial level," he said, smirking.

I scoffed. "If this was a tutorial, I don't wanna see the real thing."

Specter gestured towards the massive steel doors at the end of the chamber. A bright red holographic panel hovered above it.

[Exit Unlocked: Cyber Death Zone]

"Time to move. We don't have long before reinforcements arrive."

I wiped the sweat from my brow and followed Specter through the metallic corridor. The walls hummed with energy, neon-blue lines pulsing like veins. As we neared the exit, a system notification flashed before my eyes.

🚨 [Mission Update: Enter the Cyber Death Zone] 🚨

Reward: Unlock new abilities and equipment

I clenched my fists. More power? Hell yeah.

The massive doors hissed open, revealing a sprawling dystopian wasteland. Skyscrapers lay in ruins, their metal frames twisted. Fires burned in the distance, casting eerie shadows against the blood-red sky.

"Welcome to the real game," Specter muttered.

Suddenly, my HUD flickered. A distorted voice echoed through my comms.

🔊 [System Admin Detected] 🔊

Before I could react, the ground trembled. A massive cybernetic beast emerged from the wreckage—a towering mechanoid with glowing red optics and razor-sharp claws.

[New Enemy Identified: Titan-Class Executioner]

Specter swore under his breath. "Damn it. That's an executioner unit. We're on a kill list now."

The Titan roared, its chest opening to reveal a charged plasma cannon. The air crackled with energy as it prepared to fire.

[WARNING: Fatal Damage Imminent!]

"MOVE!" Specter shouted, shoving me aside as a blinding energy blast tore through the ground where I had stood.

I barely had time to react before the Titan lunged, its massive claws aiming straight for me.

🔹 Dodge right (70% success rate) 🔹 Parry with energy blade (50% success rate) 🔹 Counterattack with high-risk combo (30% success rate, critical damage boost!)

My heart pounded. Screw playing it safe!

I activated my Overclock Mode, my reflexes enhancing as I executed the counterattack. My blade glowed with a fiery blue aura as I slid beneath the Titan's arm, slashing through its exposed joints.

The Titan staggered, sparks flying from its damaged limb. Specter took advantage of the opening, leaping onto its back and unloading an entire plasma clip into its processor core.

With a deafening explosion, the Titan collapsed, its circuits overloading.

A surge of power flooded through me. My HUD displayed a new ability:

⚡ Phantom Dash: Instantly teleport up to 10 meters to evade attacks or strike enemies from blind spots.

"Damn, that's sick," I muttered, feeling the energy coursing through my veins.

Specter dusted himself off, glancing at the burning mech. "Not bad, rookie. But we need to keep moving. The Overlords will know we're here now."

I exhaled sharply. So this was just the beginning.

Specter turned towards the neon-lit ruins ahead. "Come on, kid. Let's see if you can survive the Cyber Death Zone."
