Chapter 2: The Code Maze

Chapter 2: The Code Maze

Aryan's mind raced as he scanned the glitching walls. Every few seconds, digital pathways shifted, breaking and reforming into new patterns. The System wasn't just testing their skills—it was actively rewriting the maze in real time.

"We need to move," Nyx said sharply. "Standing still isn't an option."

Shira tapped rapidly on her wrist console, her brows furrowed. "This maze isn't random. It follows a pattern."

Kaine cracked his knuckles. "So what? We just punch through?"

Aryan shook his head. "No. We play smart."

The System's Puzzle

As the team stepped forward, glowing symbols appeared on the walls. A deep robotic voice echoed:

"Solve the sequence or face immediate termination."

A series of numbers flashed before them:

3 – 6 – 12 – 24 – ?

Shira's eyes widened. "It's a doubling pattern. The next number is 48."

She reached out and tapped the glowing panel labeled 48. The walls shifted, opening a new pathway.

Kaine whistled. "Not bad."

But before they could celebrate, another sequence appeared.

"Incorrect answer results in system penalty."

This time, the numbers made no immediate sense:

1 – 4 – 9 – 16 – ?

Aryan's heart pounded. Think. Think.

"It's squares," he realized aloud. "The next number is 25."

He slammed his hand on the correct panel just as the ground beneath them began to collapse. A narrow bridge extended forward.

"Run!" Nyx shouted.

A Deadly Countdown

The timer was down to 4:37.

They sprinted through the ever-shifting maze, avoiding digital traps, solving patterns, and dodging System defenses. But the deeper they went, the more complex the puzzles became.

A sudden warning blared: "ERROR DETECTED. SYSTEM COMPENSATING."

The maze shifted violently, closing off old paths and opening new ones. Aryan barely dodged a collapsing section.

"We're running out of time!" Kaine growled.

Nyx pointed to a set of four colored doors ahead. "One of them leads to the exit. The others… probably to death."

Shira analyzed the colors. "Red, Blue, Green, Yellow. The previous puzzles followed binary and numerical sequences. Maybe this one follows RGB values."

Aryan snapped his fingers. "Blue and Green mix to make Cyan. The System loves patterns. The exit should be the Green door!"

With only 0:12 seconds left, they charged through the Green door—

And found themselves in a massive void of floating digital structures.

Strange symbols and letters floated around them, forming broken code. The System was rewriting reality itself. A massive chasm loomed ahead, with floating platforms constantly shifting. They had only seconds to react.

"Jump!" Aryan commanded.

As they leaped onto the first platform, a monstrous figure emerged from the data stream—a corrupted System Guardian, its glowing red eyes locked onto them.

A new message appeared:

"PHASE TWO: GUARDIAN CHALLENGE INITIATED."

Aryan exhaled. They had survived the maze. But now, they had to fight.
