Chapter 5: The Hacker’s Dilemma

Chapter 5: The Hacker's Dilemma

The neon glow of Neon Prime shimmered around Aryan and his team as they followed the cybernetic woman into a high-tech hideout. Screens flickered with scrolling data, and a massive holographic map of the city pulsed in the center of the room.

The woman turned to them, arms crossed. "I'm Vega. You don't belong here."

Aryan kept his sword ready. "Yeah, we figured that out when an army of drones tried to kill us."

Vega smirked. "That was just an automated response. You're lucky I intervened."

Shira stepped forward, eyes scanning the holographic map. "What exactly is this place?"

Vega's expression darkened. "Neon Prime is the backdoor of the system. It's where discarded data, broken code, and rogue AI end up. And if you're here…" She paused. "It means something is seriously wrong with your game."

Kaine scoffed. "Tell me something we don't know."

Vega ignored him and pulled up a separate screen, showing fluctuating data waves. "The system is unstable. Glitches like you shouldn't exist, but here you are. And that means you've caught the Administrator's attention."

Nyx raised an eyebrow. "The Administrator?"

Vega nodded. "The one who controls everything in this world. If they find you before you find a way out, you're as good as deleted."

Aryan clenched his fists. "Then tell us how to get out."

Vega hesitated. "There's only one way—hack into the core system and override your existence."

Shira's fingers twitched at the thought. "That's… insane. The core system is locked behind layers of quantum encryption."

Vega smirked. "That's why I need a hacker like you."

A heavy silence filled the room.

Then—

BANG!

The hideout's entrance exploded inward as a squad of heavily armed cyber-enforcers stormed inside. "SURRENDER, ROGUE ENTITIES!"

Vega cursed. "Damn it, they found us!"

Aryan drew his sword. "Then we fight."

The battle erupted in a flurry of laser fire and flashing blades. Aryan activated Phantom Strike, dodging between the enforcers and slashing through their armor. Kaine provided cover fire, his rifle unleashing rapid plasma shots. Nyx moved like a shadow, taking down enemies with swift, precise strikes.

Shira ducked behind a console, furiously typing. "I'm trying to overload their security grid—just hold them off!"

Vega pulled out a pulse grenade and tossed it into the enemy ranks. A shockwave sent the enforcers crashing into walls, momentarily disabling them.

Shira's screen flashed green. "Got it! Their tracking system is down—let's go!"

The team rushed out, barely escaping before reinforcements arrived.

As they disappeared into the city streets, Vega glanced at Aryan. "You want to survive? Then be ready—because this is only the beginning."

Aryan exhaled sharply. This game was no longer just about winning. Now, it was about escaping… before it was too late.
