"Hey, Simon! Did you know, yesterday Chuck and I almost..."
As soon as Simon stepped into the BuyMore, Morgan greeted him and started talking non-stop.
"Morgan, Morgan!" Simon interrupted, a bit annoyed. "Can I change first?"
"Of course!"
After saying goodbye to Morgan, Simon headed to the locker room to change into his work uniform.
Just as he stepped out of the staff lounge, Simon ran into Sarah, who had appeared the previous day.
"Sarah..."
[Ding! Detected the character Sarah Walker from Chuck. Would you like to check in?]
Simon, who was about to greet her, froze suddenly.
"Check-in!" Simon silently thought to himself.
[Ding! Host can choose one skill from the following:]
[1. Weapon Mastery (Advanced)]
[2. Combat Mastery (Intermediate)]
[3. Throwing (Intermediate)]
[4. Disguise (Advanced)]
[5. Driving Mastery (Intermediate)]
[6. Lockpicking (Advanced)]
[7. Computer Expertise (Beginner)]
[8. Calmness]
[9. Iron Will (Intermediate)]
[10. Interrogation Skills (Intermediate)]
When Simon saw all of Sarah's skills, he was stunned.
This was the first time he'd seen someone with so many skills, and the levels were high as well.
Although normal people didn't have skills at the same level as the system's, someone with this many skills couldn't be an ordinary person.
By now, Simon had figured out Sarah's identity—she was most likely an agent.
"Are you okay?" Sarah asked when she saw Simon zoning out.
Snapping back to reality, Simon shook his head. "I'm fine! Chuck's over there."
"Thanks!" Sarah glanced at Chuck, who seemed out of it, and then walked over to him.
Once Sarah was out of sight, Simon canceled the check-in.
Though Sarah had many skills, some of them overlapped with what Simon had learned. The rest, he couldn't use for now.
It was better to save today's check-in opportunity for Chuck. He was curious about just how powerful the Intersect system really was.
With that in mind, Simon worked for a while. After Sarah left, he approached Chuck and checked in for the day.
After completing the check-in, Simon asked, "Are you going on that date?"
"Of course! A hot girl like that, who would turn it down?" Morgan answered for Chuck.
Seeing Chuck looking starstruck, Simon shrugged. "I guess you're right!"
Simon understood that there was no point in saying too much now.
It was only when Chuck realized that Sarah wasn't just an ordinary person that he'd understand that good things don't just fall from the sky.
By the time work was over, Simon bid farewell to an excited Chuck and went to meet Meg at Mia's place.
"How about dinner? Let me treat you," Simon invited Meg as he met her.
"Simon, I don't have much of an appetite right now," Meg apologized.
"Don't say that, Meg. Just come with me, okay?" Simon pleaded.
"Fine, fine! Where are we going?" Meg agreed reluctantly.
"There's a Brazilian restaurant I like. It has lively music and great food," Simon said.
After saying goodbye to Mia, Simon drove Meg to the Brazilian restaurant in his Supra, just like he had mentioned.
As promised, the restaurant had a performance area where live music played.
"Thanks, Simon," Meg said, understanding that Simon had brought her here to cheer her up.
"It's nothing! Anyway, you can trust Veronica. She'll find the truth and restore your reputation," Simon reassured her.
Meg nodded. "I hope so."
"Is that Chuck over there?" Meg suddenly pointed at someone not far away.
Upon hearing Meg's words, Simon turned around and saw that it was indeed Chuck and the female agent, Sarah.
"Is he on a date? Wow, his date is hot!" Meg exclaimed.
Although Meg was beautiful, she wasn't as curvy yet due to her youth.
Simon smiled. "In a few years, you'll be even hotter than her!"
"You mean I'm not hot enough now?" Meg responded with a teasing look.
Upon hearing Meg's words, Simon smiled awkwardly, raising his hands in surrender and mimicking a "shh" gesture.
"Haha, that's funny!" Meg suddenly said.
"What?" Simon asked.
Meg looked at Sarah and said, "That woman seems happy, but I can tell she's faking it."
"Ha!" Simon was surprised. "How can you tell?"
"Don't forget, I'm a woman too. I can tell if someone loves someone or is truly happy," Meg said confidently.
"Okay," Simon wasn't sure if she was right, but he said, "Since we know this woman is hiding something, why don't we follow them and see what she's up to?"
Simon thought this could also distract Meg from her worries.
Tension often makes people forget about their troubles.
"Since when did you become so nosy, Simon?" Meg said, surprised.
"You don't want to? Fine!" Simon shrugged.
"No!" Meg showed interest. "Why not?"
The two agreed, and soon they were both focused on Chuck and Sarah.
After a while, Chuck and Sarah finished their meal and stood up to leave.
Just in time, Simon and Meg were also done eating, so they settled the bill and followed them quietly.
"Do you think we'll be noticed if we just follow them?" Meg asked as they left the restaurant and saw Chuck and Sarah walking and chatting.
Simon, with confidence, replied, "Who would care about a pair of high school sweethearts? As long as we act like we always do, there won't be a problem."
With that, Simon put his arm around Meg.
"Okay! But if we get caught, that'll be pretty embarrassing," Meg warned.
Simon laughed. "As long as we're thick-skinned, it'll be embarrassing for them, not us."
"Haha!" Meg rolled her eyes at Simon.
"Alright, they're getting further away. Let's catch up," Simon said, giving Meg a kiss.
"Fine!"
And so, with Chuck and Sarah ahead, Simon and Meg followed at a distance of about thirty meters, keeping quiet.
"They went into a bar? That could be a problem," Simon said, realizing that they had entered a bar.
For Simon and Meg, who weren't of drinking age yet, this was a big issue.
"What should we do? Should we give up?" Meg asked.
Simon thought for a moment and then said, "Let's head back to the car! I just remembered I saw Chuck's company car earlier. I bet he drove it here. If they want to head back, they'll probably use that car."
"I see. As long as we keep an eye on that car, we can wait for them," Meg smiled.
Seeing Meg's smile, Simon smiled back. "You're really smart!"
