Ratsujin's Mom broke eye contact with Ratsujin the moment he started to ask about his Dad. She remained silent and did not respond to Ratsujin.
Ratsujin asked again, "Mom is Dad waiting outside?" Ratsujin's eyes were looking around as if they were looking for his Dad.
Ratsujin's Mom broke her silence and said, "Um... The.... Thing.... is....." Her blue eyes darted around as she spoke, avoiding eye contact with Ratsujin.
The moment Ratsujin heard his mother's voice, he realized something, and all of his enthusiasm faded away. He looked down on the floor with a defeated look on his face while slowly clenching his fingers to make a fist.
Ratsujin murmured while looking at the floor, "He... He.... Didn't...."
"He... didn't... come.... right.... but.... he.... made.... a... promise....." Ratsujin's voice sounded like a defeated person.
"No! No! No!"
"It's Not Like That!!"
"He Was About To Leave, But Then A Sudden Meeting Came Up!!!"
Ratsujin's Mom spoke, trying to calm him down. Her voice had a hint of urgency.
Ratsujin's fist was getting tighter and tighter with each second. He was constantly looking at the ground with his eyes closed. He was not paying attention to a single word that his mother said to him.
"Dad.... You.... Made..... A.... Promise....."
"A... Promise...."
"Promise....."
Ratsujin continued to talk to himself about the promise his dad had made to him in a defeated voice.
"Hey...! Ratsujin....!"
Ratsujin's Mom gently reached for his shoulder. Her touch was soothing and warming, but it wasn't enough to take Ratsujin's pain away.
"Look at me, will you. I know that you are sad because Dad couldn't be here on your first day, but I also know that your father must have planned something special for you."
Ratsujin's Mom tried to restore his faith with her soothing and calming voice.
Ratsujin remained silent and still like a statue in front of his mother.
"Ratsujin, please don't act like that." Ratsujin's Mom said.
"Hmmm... Hee... Heee..."
All of a sudden, a giggling sound emerges from Ratsujin.
Suddenly, Ratsujin looked up at his mother with a big smile and said. "Since Dad isn't here, then who is going to take me to the Academy, you or G-Pa."
The sudden change in Ratsujin made his mother speechless. She was expecting him to cry or get upset at everyone, but seeing him smiling made her speechless.
"Mom, is something wrong?" Ratsujin spoke as his mother was frozen by his behavior.
As soon as Ratsujin's Mom heard his voice, she came back to her senses. "Um....." She came to her senses, but her mind didn't have time for her to come up with answers.
"So.... I am Going With G-Pa." Ratsujin spoke slowly before turning to walk away.
His mother was still astonished by his behavior. She had so much to say to Ratsujin, but her tongue was betraying her. Her eyes were tracking each of Ratsujin's steps as he was making his way towards the exit.
As Ratsujin reached the main entrance of his house, he turned around and shouted. "G-PA!!"
A few seconds passed by, but G-Pa didn't show up at the door.
Ratsujin took a deep breath and decided to call his G-Pa once more.
"Knock...! Knock....!"
Before Ratsujin could call his G-Pa one more time, someone knocked at the house door.
Ratsujin did not waste a single second to open the door, but the moment, he opened the door. Ratsujin saw a familiar figure standing outside his house.
"What are you waiting for? Aren't we getting late?" The man at the door said to Ratsujin.
Ratsujin smiled as he saw the man standing before him. It was none other than his G-Pa.
G-Pa was standing outside the house wearing brown pants paired with a gray shirt and a sweater, but he also had something on his shoulder. It was a bag. A school bag.
G-Pa and Ratsujin looked at each other in the eyes with a big smile on both of their faces.
"Shall we.." G-Pa said.
Ratsujin responded to his G-Pa with a nod, but before he exited the house. He turned around and said.
"Goodbye, Mom!"
"Goodbye, Sasha!"
"Goodbye, Yahuga!"
