let me make it up to you

A few moments later...

Ratsujin is walking on a sidewalk alongside his G-Pa. His crimson eyes have a gleam of happiness even though he knows his father broke his promise. He had an innocent smile across his face.

As both of them continued to walk, G-Pa side-eyed Ratsujin while carrying his bag on his shoulder. He noticed Ratsujin's smile was still on his face.

G-Pa spoke while looking ahead, "I thought you would be upset about him not coming today, but look at you happier than ever."

"Hooouuuhh..."

A faint gust blew Ratsujin's hair as G-Pa finished talking. Ratsujin closed his eyes as the breeze went past him. He was enjoying the breeze with his eyes closed.

G-Pa spoke again as Ratsujin continued to walk with his eyes closed, enjoying every moment he can.

"Weren't you planning for this day for the past month?" G-Pa continued in his solemn voice. "He was going to drop you at the Academy and pick you up, and then both of you were going to have lunch together, and all of that planning is gone straight to the bin...."

Ratsujin remained silent and continued to walk with his eyes closed while maintaining an innocent smile on his face.

G-Pa's curiosity persisted after he noticed Ratsujin's silence. He kept glancing at Ratsujin while they walked together.

"I can't believe it! The last time I did something like this he cried for two straight hours and did not talk to anyone for three whole days. I had to buy him a bicycle just so he can talk with me, but now he is calm as a river...." G-Pa spoke to himself in curiosity.

"There must be something going on in his mind...." G-Pa said to himself.

Several minutes passed by, and both of them were still making their way toward the academy. G-Pa was still carrying Ratsujin's bag while Ratsujin was still walking with his eyes closed.

Ratsujin's eyes were closed, but he did not stumble a single step. He was placing each step so precise that it looked like a normal person was walking with his eyes open.

"...."

"Did... You.... Knew....."

Ratsujin finally broke his silence.

"Did you say something?" G-Pa swiftly responded to Ratsujin.

Ratsujin spoke in a low, slow voice. His voice was so low that G-Pa could not hear him properly.

"Ahem...."

Ratsujin cleared his throat and spoke in a more clear voice. "You knew, didn't you? You knew that Dad can't make it home today....." Ratsujin asked his G-Pa with his eyes closed.

G-Pa eyes widened in shock as he did not have a response to his Grandson's question. He took a few moments to answer Ratsujin's question.

"Can't lie to him..." G-Pa spoke to himself before responding to Ratsujin.

"Yes....." G-Pa stated.

Ratsujin's innocent smile faded away the moment he heard his G-Pa's response.

Before Ratsujin could respond, G-Pa swiftly turned towards Ratsujin and said. "But I didn't tell you 'cause I did not want you to go to the academy with a sad face."

G-Pa spoke again in a rushed voice, "Let me make it up to you. When he returns, I will scold him, and not only that, both of us will have lunch at that place where you wanted to go with him."

"What do you say, Deal?" G-Pa's voice had a hint of nervousness. He did not want to be the one that Ratsujin get upset with. He is ready to do anything Ratsujin wants.

Ratsujin responded to his G-Pa with a stern look on his face. "No deal...."

"How can I have lunch with you when I am going to have lunch with Dad. If you want to join us you can..." Ratsujin stated with his eyes closed.
