"Floors 79, 78, and 77 have been secured and neutralized!"

The hacker's report echoed through the conference room on the 133rd floor. The Arasaka executives stared at the surveillance feed on the projection table in stunned silence.

That speed… was absurd.

The most shocked was Susan Abernathy. As Arasaka's Director of Special Operations, she knew better than anyone what those three floors represented. They weren't just random areas—they were combat zones for training Arasaka's elite ninjas and covert operatives. The best of the best.

Most of the personnel on those levels had turned traitor. They had seized control of the floors. And yet, how long had it taken the two to clear them?

Five minutes? Four?

Even counting elevator time, it hadn't been more than three minutes.

Just two people—Adam Smasher and Karl—had wiped out over thirty armed traitors. The 79th floor had taken the two of them under twenty seconds. The 78th and 77th? Cleared solo. One man per floor.

'Monsters...'

She wasn't sure if she said that aloud.

Even with her authority and rank in Arasaka, this was the first time Susan had witnessed such raw, horrifying power in person. It made her swallow hard.

Humans naturally flinch at overwhelming violence. And right now, fear, awe, and dread churned within her.

'Like walking kill-machines.'

To them, killing people looked no different than methodical sanitation work.

Susan tried imagining herself in the position of one of the traitors—if she'd been under their protection, and faced them head-on...

Her body ached at the thought. Phantom pain. As if she'd already been torn in half.

In hindsight, Matsudaira's death might've been the most merciful and dignified.

As the high-ranking executives observed the reclaimed surveillance feeds, Kenichiro frowned.

'Still rough around the edges.'

He was analyzing Karl. This was the first time he had watched Karl fight via projection—and flaws stood out.

Adam Smasher was a different matter: mechanical brutality in perfect sync with cybernetic processing. Nothing Kenichiro could compare himself to. But Karl?

Karl's combat style was more familiar. Close-range, speed-focused, melee-centric—like Kenichiro himself. That meant he could assess it.

Karl's individual moves were excellent—almost textbook. But…

'His transitions are unpolished.'

Every technique was solid, but the handoffs between them—the flow—lacked seamlessness. The kind of detail only another elite fighter would catch.

If Kenichiro had to put it in layman's terms: Karl's running start was great, his stride smooth—but somehow, the transition from start to run was choppy. Like switching sides on an old cassette tape.

Still, it wasn't a fatal flaw. With more combat experience, it would work itself out—like clearing a clogged pipe. What confused Kenichiro was how Karl had this flaw in the first place.

It was the kind of mistake seen in rookies with less than three months of training.

If Karl went up against someone like Chiyome, it wouldn't matter. But if he fought Kenichiro…

Kenichiro would absolutely exploit that lag.

Speaking of which—

He glanced toward the veiled figure standing behind Miss Hanako.

The moment he laid eyes on her, his brow twitched.

She was watching the surveillance feed.

Really?! Had he ever taught her that was okay?

Kenichiro felt a headache coming on. If not for his biomonitor reporting stable vitals, he would've assumed he was about to stroke out.

She was supposed to be guarding Miss Hanako, and here she was… watching cleanup footage?! He had once proudly recommended her to Lady Michiko. And now?

Now he regretted everything.

He had trained her personally, treated her like a successor. And this was the result?

Any of his half-trained students would've done better.

As if sensing his glare, Chiyome twitched. She turned her head, spotted Kenichiro's eyes burning a hole through her, and instantly stiffened. Her hand crept toward her waist on instinct.

Right. That screw-up of a guard was still standing nearby.

If he couldn't even protect Miss Hanako properly, then she certainly couldn't let her guard down. Who knew what he might try? She had to stay ready.

Chiyome adjusted her stance, stepping subtly in front of Hanako to shield her.

There were still potential traitors in the room. She had to be ready to throw smoke and extract the VIP at a moment's notice.

Hanako noticed the shift in Chiyome's posture—but didn't react.

Her attention remained fixed on the feed: first Karl, then Smasher.

Then, silently, her hands resting neatly in her lap, she slipped a phone from her kimono sleeve and sent a message.

Hanako → Karl:

"You're losing, Karl."

Karl → Hanako:

"Then I just hope the others take their time clearing the other floors. I'd like a chance to join in, after all."

"A rare opportunity—slaughtering corporate dogs side-by-side with a legend. And getting paid for it."

Hanako:

"They're not corporate dogs anymore~ <( ̄︶ ̄)>"

Karl:

"Next time, just send a regular image emoji."
