Chapter 6 Products of the Great Expedition Era, Giant God Soldiers Legion

Three days later, in the evening.

[You have completed an overhaul of a Basic Mechanical Weapon. The difficulty of this task is rated as: Simple. You have gained 30 points of Professional Experience (Mechanic LV4), and 50 points of Skill Experience (Basic Mechanical Repair LV6)]

[You have completed maintenance of an Intermediate Mechanical Weapon. The difficulty of this task is rated as: Simple. You have gained 10 points of Professional Experience, and 15 points of Skill Experience]

[You have completed a repair on an Intermediate Mechanical Weapon. The difficulty of this task is rated as: Moderate. You have gained 50 points of Professional Experience and 100 points of Skill Experience...]

As each mechanical weapon is repaired and maintained in Su Yu's hands.

The system notification messages regarding experience points keep refreshing on Su Yu's system display screen.

Over the past three days, Su Yu dealt with the three boxes of weapons and parts acquired from Yang Lie, handling repairs, maintenance, and recycling as needed.

The experience gained was quite substantial.

However, as Su Yu's professional and skill levels increased,

his repair efficiency improved, but the experience gained from merely maintaining these basic and intermediate mechanical weapons decreased.

The efficiency of upgrading inevitably slowed down as well.

Fortunately, just as Su Yu finished repairing the last mechanical weapon in his hands,

he finally heard the long-anticipated upgrade chime.

[You have accumulated enough experience points. Your professional level has increased. Current Professional Level: Mechanic (LV5)]

[Your Professional Core Ability, Mechanical Affinity, has been synchronized for an upgrade...]

With the prompt sound falling,

after a day of repairs, Su Yu's somewhat fatigued spirit was suddenly invigorated, and his eyes brightened considerably.

Shaking his head, taking a deep breath, Su Yu looked at the old-fashioned rifle in his hands that assisted him in this upgrade, with satisfaction gleaming in his eyes.

This old-fashioned rifle might have been considered outdated during the Grand Expedition,

but on this Ruins Star, the technological content inside was quite high, reaching the level of an Intermediate Mechanical Weapon.

And, in terms of quality, after Su Yu's repairs, it rarely received the system's evaluation of [Reliable Quality].

This weapon, Su Yu decided to keep as the flagship item of his repair shop, not easily for sale.

In the Sanctuary, there are several mechanics, each having their own repair shops. Besides completing repair tasks issued by the Sanctuary, they also collaborate with various hunting teams and even with Scavengers who gather around the Sanctuary.

By helping them repair and maintain weapons, they earn extra income. Sometimes, they would even purchase old firearms for repair and sell them at a high price, which is truly profitable.

Previously, when Su Yu's master was still around, they witnessed their master's similar transactions, earning enough income for the two of them to enjoy a nutrition meal with Anger Scorpion Meat every day for half a month.

But since the master passed away, with only Su Yu sustaining the repair shop, just completing the orders issued by the Sanctuary was the limit.

Naturally, Su Yu had no spare time, and even if he did, few would willingly cooperate with him.

Not to mention, to other residents of the Sanctuary, the repair shop left to Su Yu by his master is already a significant asset, and if no one is trying to swallow it from under him, it already counts as good security in the Sanctuary.

But now, the situation has changed.

With excitement, Su Yu placed the old-fashioned rifle beside the shop's counter.

Rubbing his hands together, his gaze turned toward the strange disc placed at the top of the box in the repair shop's corner, filled with curiosity and anticipation!

He had a premonition.

With his recent promotion to LV5 and the boost from Mechanical Affinity, he should be able to figure out the mechanism within this disc!

Taking a deep breath, Su Yu stepped forward, carefully taking out the disc, studying it intently for a moment, and then gently pressing a catch at the back of the disc.

"Click!"

Accompanied by the sound of a mechanism falling into place,

the disc in front of Su Yu abruptly trembled, its intricate dark-golden patterns cracking open, revealing a blue light stream that leapt out and intertwined into a light screen that appeared before him.

"Recruit, congratulations on passing the final test and becoming a proud member of the Giant God Soldiers! I am your intelligent Navigation Device. Next, please follow the instructions to install me into your vehicle system. I will guide you to report to the legion!"

With an impassioned electronic voice sounding,

a navigation map appeared before Su Yu's eyes.

But Su Yu only looked perplexed.

Vehicle system? Giant God Soldiers?

Where would he get such things?

However...

"Year 30068? A product from the time of the Grand Expedition?"

Looking at the timestamp on the bottom right of the navigation map, which followed the Imperial Era calendar, Su Yu's expression became extremely odd.

Even though hunting teams and Scavengers on Ruins Star could find remnants from the old era intermittently,

the so-called ruin wasn't built in a day.

The glory of the Grand Expedition may have ended ten millennia ago, but it didn't fade overnight, instead dissipating over long ages.

The star once called [Azure], which has become the Ruins Star today, didn't achieve this "great work" overnight either.

The relics unearthed by Scavengers and hunting teams often came from centuries or a thousand years ago.

Finding something over two to three thousand years old was rare.

Among the three boxes of rewards sent by Uncle Yang Lie, having a genuine [Grand Expedition-level] antique was indeed surprising for Su Yu.

"If Azure Star hadn't turned into Ruins Star, this item might have been chased by collectors on this planet, sold at exorbitant prices..."

Su Yu mused emotionlessly, stroking his chin.

It couldn't be blamed on him.

The history of the Grand Expedition recorded in Su Yu's Sanctuary was nearly nonexistent.

The entire Sanctuary wasn't built during the Grand Expedition era, only having a construction history of over a thousand years. Achievements from earlier eras, those of empire and human glory, were long buried in the dust.

According to available data, the embryonic form of the Empire should have existed forty thousand years ago, when humanity first came into contact with Subspace and learned to use the Spiritual Energy there, opening the path to divine evolution.

Based on Spiritual Energy.

The Transcendents among humans were thus born.

Those focusing on Spiritual Evolution, cultivating spiritual power, mastering spirit manipulation, illusion technique construction, taming animals, and even creating super large mechanical constructs were Spiritual Transcendents.

Those focusing on Physical Body Evolution, channeling Spiritual Energy into flesh and blood, through physical training, martial art cultivation, and even genetic transformation to grow physical body power to impossible heights, were Extraordinary of Physical Body.

Apart from the transcendence system based on Spiritual Energy evolution,

The Empire's splendor couldn't do without another Subspace technology—Subspace Transmission.

With this technology, across the universe and Galaxy, through billions of light-years, the Empire's starships could arrive swiftly.

In its golden age, the Empire's military boasted: "Build a Star Destroyer Cannon in the morning, and by the afternoon its neutron radiation gun could reach the rebels entrenched on the border."

With Subspace Transmission, the Empire's golden era continued for thirty thousand years, the Galaxy's span kept expanding, annihilating one alien species after another before the Empire's fleets.

Yet, the exceedingly smooth expansion led the Empire's upper echelon to neglect research on Subspace.

Subspace was like an ocean, calm and untroubled for the past thirty millennia, but after thirty thousand years, with the onset of the largest, glorious expedition in Empire's history,

Subspace finally erupted with a tidal wave.

[Spiritual Energy Tides].

The Sanctuary's remnants of history had vague descriptions of this disaster.

Su Yu could only gather two points.

One, with the outbreak of the Spiritual Energy Tides, Subspace navigation was now a mirage. Any fleet attempting Subspace Transmission would be sent to unknown places by the chaotic Spiritual Energy Sea. The fortunate ones, after completing transmission, would still remain within Empire's borders. The unfortunate ones might be directly sent to lands untouched by the Empire's civilization lights.

Of course, they were not the worst off.

The worst were those sent directly into black holes. When the Empire's rescue teams arrived, they could only receive stark distress signals from the black holes, growing fainter until silencing completely.

The cornerstone of the Empire's glorious reign thus collapsed.

The second point,

under the influence of the Spiritual Energy Tides, numerous powerful Spiritual Transcendents' nature changed dramatically, turning brutal, malicious, and bloodthirsty.

And those rare Transcendents who could maintain sanity,

once realizing that the Empire's core was out of touch, and the Empire's Star Destroyer Cannon could no longer suddenly land overhead through Subspace travel,

their ambitions inevitably swelled. Whether actively or passively, small-scale kingdoms ruling over one or several Life Stars emerged one by one.

Those previously suppressed or conquered alien races also rebelled, leaving the whole Empire in turmoil, until the present, ten thousand years later.

The Sanctuary's history records stop at the year 30100,

but viewing the Ruins Star's history, Su Yu could easily imagine the Empire's circumstances—lost contact with the Empire for the past ten millennia, the border star once named [Azure], saw nine regimes take power.

And the technology of these nine ruling regimes gradually regressed.

Initially, the people of the [Azure Second Empire] could still attempt to launch exploration starships to other planets.

But every Starship Exploration mysteriously failed to launch, and later rulers halted such explorations.

By the time of the ninth ruling faction, the Ghost Empire, the technological level of this star, to Su Yu, had dropped to be slightly stronger than the Blue Planet of his previous life.

It seemed strange to Su Yu, warfare should trigger technological bursts, yet the past ruling regimes on the Ruins Star were regressing in technology.

As if something obscure was controlling it all.

Yet, this did not stop the ruling powers from engaging in do-or-die battles with the rebel leaders everywhere, until transforming the entire Azure Star into the Ruins Star was complete.

See the large from the small.

"Whether it's the Giant God Soldiers or the glorious Empire, the civil wars and battles of the past ten thousand years have likely turned into ruins too!"

Su Yu shook his head, preparing to close the disc and ignore it further.

But, just as Su Yu reached out, he inadvertently noticed the stopped navigation map on the screen.

The navigation map showed a long journey spanning thousands of kilometers.

And atop the route, two lines of information were prominently displayed.

[No vehicle system detected, unable to estimate vehicle speed, re-evaluating...]

[Based on the new recruits' march speed of the Giant God Soldiers, departing from the current position, it's estimated to cover 13,762 kilometers, taking about eleven days and seven hours, please press the confirm button to start navigation—]

"The reporting location for this Giant God Soldiers..."

"Is it on this Ruins Star!?"
