Chains Of Fate

The Silver Curse – Volume 2, Chapter 7: Chains of Fate

The Weight of the Curse

The journey back to Valkris was quiet. Yuto kept his hood low, his hands clenched into fists. The rings had spoken again—whispered, tempted, pulled. Each time, it became harder to resist.

Mira walked beside him, eyes darting to him every so often. "You gonna talk about it?"

"Talk about what?" Yuto muttered.

"Don't play dumb," Mira scoffed. "Back there—you weren't just fighting. You were… something else. And I saw those rings glowing."

Yuto exhaled slowly. "It's nothing."

Mira narrowed her eyes but didn't press further. They both knew it was a lie.

Return to Valkris

The city gates were bustling with merchants and adventurers when they arrived. The air was thick with the scent of roasted meat and fresh bread, but Yuto barely noticed. Something felt off.

As they stepped inside, a group of armored guards stood near the guild entrance. Their eyes scanned the crowd, their hands resting on their weapons.

Mira leaned in. "That normal?"

Yuto shook his head. "No. Something happened."

A murmur passed through the gathered adventurers. Someone was asking for him.

A Summons from Above

As soon as they entered the guild, a sharp voice cut through the noise. "Yuto."

He turned to see a woman dressed in a dark uniform, her gaze sharp as steel. A guild officer.

"You're to come with me. Now."

Mira stiffened. "What's this about?"

The officer's expression didn't change. "Orders from above. The guild master wants a word."

Yuto glanced at Mira, then nodded. "Lead the way."

The guild officer turned sharply, leading him toward a staircase at the back of the hall. The whispers followed him, but Yuto ignored them. He had a feeling this meeting would change everything.
