CHAPTER 3

003 – Heading to the Pokémon Center! The Newbie Gift Package

After dinner, Qin Yun returned to his room, opened his system backpack, and took out one of the energy cubes. The small, translucent cube emitted a faint glow, pulsing with contained energy. Holding it between his fingers, Qin Yun felt the concentrated power within.

"These are better than anything you'd find at a Poke Mart," he muttered.

Even though energy cubes were a staple in Pokémon training, the ones he obtained through his system were significantly superior. In the market, basic energy cubes provided minimal nourishment, while high-grade ones were monopolized by powerful trainers or elite families. With these mid-grade cubes, his starter Pokémon would receive a significant boost from day one.

"But no matter how good these resources are, I still need a strong Pokémon."

Qin Yun had already planned his ideal options.

"An offensive Pokémon would be best either a powerful physical attacker or a devastating special attacker. Defensive or support types would be too slow to take advantage of my system in the early stages."

The Next Day

Qin Yun woke up early, feeling an unusual excitement coursing through him. Today was the day he would officially become a Pokémon Trainer.

Arriving at class, he saw that his classmates were equally eager. The homeroom teacher soon arrived, organizing the students into lines as they prepared to head to Jiang Cheng's Pokémon Center.

On the way, whispers filled the air.

"I heard that this year, there's a Pokémon with Purple-grade potential at the Center!" one student said excitedly.

"Seriously? That means someone from Jiang Cheng could become a professional trainer!"

"Hah, dream on. In past years, barely anyone from our entire school even made it to the elite level. Do you know how rare professionals are?"

Qin Yun listened to their discussion, but he didn't share their concerns. With his system, he didn't have to rely on sheer luck.

Nearby, a girl with honey-blonde hair and a stylish school uniform walked up beside him. Serena.

Unlike most of his classmates, Serena wasn't just an ordinary student her mother was a former Rhyhorn Racer and now owned a well-known Rhyhorn breeding ranch in Jiang Cheng. Their family was wealthy, and she had access to much better Pokémon than most of her peers.

She glanced at Qin Yun with curiosity.

"He's different from the others," she thought. "I can't explain why, but he doesn't seem like someone meant to stay in this city forever."

Looking at him thoughtfully, Serena made a decision.

"If his Pokémon isn't good, I'll ask my mom if we can sponsor him with a medium-potential Pokémon."

The Pokémon Center

By the time their group arrived, the Pokémon Center was packed. Students from all seven high schools in Jiang Cheng were gathered, their excited chatter filling the hall.

Despite the crowd, the Pokémon Center staff worked efficiently. They had done this for years, and everything was handled smoothly.

Qin Yun's class was finally called.

"Alright, I heard that the Purple-grade Pokémon hasn't been chosen yet," someone whispered.

"If I can get it, I might have a chance to go professional…"

"Hah, even if you get it, do you have the resources to train it?" another student scoffed.

Raising a powerful Pokémon wasn't as simple as it looked in anime. In reality, Pokémon with high potential required vast amounts of resources. The stronger the Pokémon, the more expensive its training became.

"Not everyone has a wealthy family backing them," the student continued. "If you get a strong Pokémon but don't have money for proper training, it'll just be wasted potential."

"Still… if someone gets a good Pokémon, they can sign with a Grand Duke Corporation. They'll provide training resources in exchange for a contract."

"Yeah, but that's basically selling yourself for ten or fifteen years," someone else muttered. "Once you sign, you belong to them."

Qin Yun ignored their discussion. He was focused on the hall before him.

Inside, long tables stretched across the exhibition area, each lined with rows of Poké Balls. Each Poké Ball was spaced evenly apart, and the number was staggering more than 5,000 Pokémon were available today.

Even if many were low-potential Pokémon, the sheer scale of the selection was impressive. The combined value of these Pokémon easily reached hundreds of millions of Pokémon coins.

But ultimately, choosing a Pokémon here was entirely dependent on luck.

Qin Yun's eyes scanned the rows of Poké Balls.

"I don't have X-ray vision or any special ability to see a Pokémon's potential," he mused. "I'll just have to trust my instincts."

He stepped forward

And then, suddenly, the system's notification rang in his head.

---

[System Notification]

Qin Yun's eyes widened.

"Open it!"

Qin Yun's heart pounded as he processed the notifications.

"This is insane… God-Tier Luck? A two-hour effect?"

And the ability to see a Pokémon's stats just by looking at it?

A slow grin spread across his face.

"Well then… I suppose I won't need luck after all."

He stepped forward, his confidence growing.

It was time to pick his first Pokémon.
