Prologue

Depending on how you view life, you could either call his story an inspiring one, or a sad one, but one thing was sure. He was happy, but he wasn't always happy, especially as a kid.

Edward Walter's was a kid who didn't know his mother, she died during childbirth, she was a weak and frail woman, but as she was frail, she was very beautiful and charming.

It was this charm that had attracted Edward's Father.

She was everything to Tyler(Edwards father)

And when she died, he was in denial at first, but then his mind finally accepted it and the next stage he entered was depression. He just couldn't imagine living a life without her, they had planned their happily ever after together and now she was gone.

But the deed was done, he couldn't turn back time to stop her from carrying a child, he couldn't do anything about it.

So he decided to raise Edward, the last gift that she had given to him with the cost of her life.

As a nine year old kid, Edward was restricted from doing most things. He didn't go to school.

His father was too broke to afford school so he took on a job as a janitor in a nearby tech company.

It wasn't a high paying job, but he knew that if he kept saving up he could at least save enough money to send Edward to middle school.

Edward was always at home, he only went out on strolls with his father once in a while.

When Tyler was out working during the day, Edward was at home, Either playing with toys his dad bought him or reading books and stories.

His dad taught him how to read and write and Edward was a genius at learning things, and reading has been his favorite thing to do. Stealing his Dad's smartphone to operate and play games all day was his second favorite thing.

Tyler thought of Edward as an innocent, frail kid, His brown hair and brown eyes reminded him constantly of his dead wife.

To Him, He was like a smaller, male version of her, that's why any time he felt like killing himself, he would always shun that thought and moved on with life.

But the truth was, Edward was never really an innocent and naive kid. He only appeared that way to his father. He was a mischievous brat with a plan for everything a genius kid who could learn anything he put his mind to. He had mastered the act of childlike Innocence.

The day the turn around in Edwards life happened was the day when his father had woken up as early as usual by 8:00am in the morning.

He microwaved some leftover food from the previous day for Edward, taking none for himself, he was going to get some snacks later to hold his stomach.

Tyler never knew that the kid had a mischievous plan set for the day

Edward was sitted on the couch in the living room, quietly looking at Tyler.

'Finally. Today is the day.' Edward thought to himself with a smug smile plastered on his face.

"Eddy, this food I'm preparing is only to be eaten when you're hungry, don't eat it as soon as I go out.. you hear me?"

Edward nodded silently, his eyes already blazing with mischief that Tyler couldn't see.

Tyler motioned to where Edward was sitting on the couch and leaned down to pat Edward's head. A big, warm smile was drawn on his face. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon, and when I come back, we can go get you some ice cream." Tyler declared with a final ruffle to Edward's hair as he stood up to make his way to he front door.

"Oh, and don't go out, unless there's an emergency, alert the neighbors in that cas." He shut the door as he made his way out of the house.

"Finally." Edward sighed, his sigh laced with exasperation.

"Time to carry out my master plan."

"I've tracked the location of his workplace on his phone, I know where to avoid now." He stood up from he couch and threw away the action figure he held.

"Sorry dad, but you shouldn't really leave your phone alone with a nine year old kid." He paced towards the table where his father dropped his food and also forgot his wallet.

He grabbed the food and took it back to the couch and opened it to eat.

"First I'll take the wallet as my assurance, so if he catches me outside, I can tell him that I came to give him his wallet, he'll totally fall for that, he's weak to my innocent demeanor." He chimed, a smug expression appeared on his face.

'I have to waste some time first though, so I wouldn't get caught that easily.' He thought to himself as he stroked his chin like an old man stroking his beard.

"What better way to waste time than to eat?" He quickly opened the plastic cover on the food flask revealing the content of the food.

It was noodles... Again.

'well, a hungry person has no choice I guess.' He thought to himself as he slurped the noodles.

After eating, he didn't do anything else, he had only one goal, to sneak to the nearest school close to the street.

He tried to recall the location of the school he had crammed and was Elated as he finally remembered after a few minutes of pondering and working his brain.

"A-ha!" He folded his fists like a hammer and hit it on his palm, like a judge in a court.

He stood up immediately, ran towards the exit and went out without even properly locking the door. He was just too excited to see what a school looked like in person.

Edward was a smart kid, too smart, you couldn't even decieve him with candy, the kind of smart that can actually scare you. He had no childlike Innocence, he didn't see the world as beautiful, he saw the world like an experienced veteran, one who knows just how miserable life is.

Tyler knew Edward was a matured kid, so he took advantage of it, but he wasn't happy about doing it, leaving his son alone in the house when his agemates were socializing in schools. He knew that Edward will understand if he explained properly, because Edward never complained or expressed anger and discomfort in any situation that he found comfortable because he understood.

Edward had done this before, it wasn't his first time sneaking out of the house when his dad wasn't home.

He had done it countless times that he built a reputation among the kids in the neighborhood, they called him 'Ed the best.' He was always fun to play with and a funny guy.

He was also mischievous too, he often frequented the nearby park to play with other children, some of which were in his situation too and didn't go to school. Some times the ones who went to school were on holiday, that's where he met his friend Kerian who told him about school and how fun it was.

Edward was determined to see the school for himself that day. The school was not close to the company that Tyler worked so Edward was sure he would never bump into Tyler, even if he did, he had the perfect excuse.

Edward looked at the road carefully, waiting for the right time to cross. He was in the middle of the road when he heard a familiar voice shouting his name.

"Eddddddddiiiiiii!!!"
