"Woobin, stop!"
After being rooted to the spot like a rock for some time, I snapped back to reality from my flashback of THAT night and ran after him.
He left through the back door of the club and was walking down the alley behind the live club. I was sure he heard me but he did not respond.
I ran after him as fast as I could and finally went past him, stopped him on his track, and yelled.
"It's me! Yuno!"
Woobin looked at me with curious (and cold) eyes for a second, tilted his head, and asked.
"And?"
"Yuno! Me. Yuno!"
"You sound more like Tarzan"
"Wha-?!"
"Please, I'll say it just one more time. Thank you for coming to the show and I appreciate you liked it, but let's not cross boundaries here. The show is over and I'm off stage now."
It really did look like I was testing his patience.
"You don't… remember me? Seriously?"
"Look, I'm sorry. I might have seen you a few times if you were a regular at my gigs, but I still wouldn't know your name, would I?"
Oh. My. God.
It's not just that he HATES me now, he doesn't even REMEMBER me?!
This can't be happening!
"Look, look - I think you are having amnesia or something. We went to Seiyun University together! We sat next to each other in the first lecture of the first year and you started talking, and… and…"
"It's easy to figure out which Uni I went to. I'm sure that info is somewhere on the social media. In any case - please don't dig into people's personal information."
"Right. How about this? You like curry, you like riding motorbikes, you hate frogs - you are scared of them, like hilariously scared of them! And-"
:BAAM!:
Woobin grabbed me by my collar, almost lifted me up, and slammed me against the wall.
"Ouch… it hurts, Woobin…"
"I tried to be nice, but it seems you don't get it unless I say it clearly. So here it is. FUCK OFF and leave me alone."
With that, he let me down, turned around, walked away, turned the corner, and he was gone.
I felt like my whole world was collapsing.
Years… for years I have been in love with this guy.
Nothing came of it (yet!) but at least we were friends - very close friends.
He'd always been so nice to me. In fact, TOO nice to me in an elder brotherly way although we were the same age.
Now, because of some stupid God's joke, things didn't just 'reverse', but the one I cared most about seemed to have forgotten me completely as if I never existed in his life…
:Mango! Mango!:
When I heard my messenger shout in its cheerful tone, for a split second I thought maybe it was Woobin and he'd sent me an emoji and something like 'hehe, fooled you!'
But when I rushed to take the phone out of my pocket and check it, I was both disappointed and surprised to find that it was from my Third Sister, Yujin.
Of all people… the Third Sister who'd always been mean to me sends me a message at times like this. She hardly talks to me these days, why now all of a sudden?
Curiosity got the better of me so I opened the messenger to check and my eyes almost popped out.
'Hey, Sweetie. Where are you?'
S…Sweetie?!!!
What the hell?!!
My world had really turned upside down.
'What do you want?' I replied.
'Aw, is my dear brother in a bad mood?'
Dear brother… She must be pulling my leg.
'Anyway, I'm near your flat. I bought you that cheesecake you like.'
Reverse…
This must be that crazy reverse card that Got played on me, although it was still hard for me to believe something so ridiculously supernatural like that.
Right.
This is a dream.
Maybe I did get hit by the train that night.
I must be in some hospital bed now, in a coma or something.
Hopefully, I wake up and everything will be back to normal.
I pinched my cheek as hard as I could and the only thing I got in return was pain.
Damn it!
'Are you coming home soon? I'm waiting outside your flat.'
Ah, screw this! I need to go talk to SOMEONE at least, even if it's Yujin.
'I'm coming home soon. Please wait.'
After sending the message I quickly ran out of the alley, hailed a taxi, and headed back to my flat.
When I arrived, I found my Third Sister really standing by the door holding a box (of cake probably).
"I… I'm sorry I made you wai-"
"Yay!"
Before I could even finish, she ran up to me and gave me a big bear hug.
"S…stop!"
I instinctively tried to push her away but she held me even tighter, giggling, and pat my head.
"There, there. I don't know what happened but you feel better after the hug, right?"
OK. This was even weirder than how things were with Woobin. In my 26 years of life, Yujin has NEVER been like this to me.
"What's gotten into you?"
I gave up resisting and just let her hug me and ask.
She pulled away, looked into my eyes, and spoke with a concerned voice.
"Because you haven't messaged me for the whole day! I was worried about you."
Me…? Messaging her?!!
"Er… were we… always like this?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like-, we've always been this close?"
"What are you talking about? You are my favorite brother, of course!"
"You only have one brother…"
"Of course, but still! Aren't I your favorite sister too?" She patted my head again.
"No."
Then suddenly, her expression changed, and she looked like she was almost going to tear up.
"How… even as a joke… that's so not nice. My sweet little brother being so mean to me."
This was seriously creeping me out. Yujin, the delinquent troublemaker since middle school days being so soft-hearted and a borderline bro-con.
But it probably wasn't nice to make her feel bad if things were like this.
I suppose I'll just play along for now.
"Sigh… I'm sorry. I'm just not… quite feeling right today."
"Are you OK?"
The look of hurt changed into a kind care.
"Yeah…"
"You want to go see a doctor?"
"I'm fine… please let me just get some rest…"
"Right. I understand. Just tell me if you need anything. You can always count on me, you know that, right?" She put her hand on my shoulder, gave me a smile and spoke.
"Tha… thanks."
"Here's your cake!"
She put the box of cake in my hands and walked off, turning around multiple times to wave goodbye.
This is… seriously messed up.
I then walked into my flat, put the cake on the table, headed straight to bed, and laid down with my face buried in the pillow.
What am I supposed to do now?
:Mango! Mango!:
I shouldn't expect it to be Woobin anymore but… I couldn't resist.
The message was from… Da…Dad?
The man really hates me and we hardly talk. What's gotten into him now?
I unlocked the phone to check.
'Good night and sweet dreams, Son.'
This is… seriously messed up!
