Chapter 47: The Fusion of Psychic Abilities and Legilimency

Chapter 47: The Fusion of Psychic Abilities and Legilimency

"It seems I can't give up on the Tony Stark lead."

After leaving the rooftop, George didn't head back to school. Instead, he rode his beloved motorcycle straight to Manhattan, having decided that he would still need to rescue Tony in the Middle East at some point.

Previously, he had considered that bringing Wolverine to save Tony might draw the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., and relying on others wasn't as reliable as relying on himself.

So, he had planned to find a proxy, raid all the families in the Bronx, and then invest in Stark stocks to make a fortune.

But now, circumstances had changed, and after some careful thought, he realized he had overlooked a crucial detail.

Would Tony Stark really be able to escape on his own?

In the movie universe, sure, no problem. But this wasn't the movie universe. This was a world with Wolverine, Professor X, and other mutants. He wasn't sure which Marvel universe this was.

What if Tony Stark failed to escape and died in that cave? Wouldn't that mean George would lose everything?

How could he ensure that investing in Stark stocks would be a sure win?

He concluded that the safest bet would be to personally go to the Middle East, rescue Tony Stark, and then immediately have Leon invest all the cash in Stark stocks.

As for the risk of being discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D., he had a plan for that too.

He wasn't the same as before—back then, he only knew the Unlocking Charm, hadn't developed his abilities much, and was burdened with a group of inexperienced kids.

Now, he had Leon, the leader of one of the thirteen families in the Bronx, as a partner. Leon could easily provide him with a legitimate identity for disguise.

His magnetic abilities had advanced to the point where he could deflect sniper bullets and perform long-range assassinations. He had also mastered all the first-year spells and learned some beyond the textbooks.

So, he could quietly go to the Middle East, rescue Tony Stark, and remain undetected.

If possible, he could even establish a covert partnership with Tony Stark. This way, he would have allies in both the legal and underworld spheres, making many future endeavors much easier.

"Tony isn't so easy to kill. The military hasn't given up on searching for him yet.

And even if something did happen to Tony, Stark Industries has the world's best engineers. Our weapons would still be the finest in the world.

So, don't worry about the future of Stark Industries. Trust us!"

In New York's most upscale banquet hall, Obadiah Stane stood on the stage, passionately trying to salvage Stark Industries' plummeting stock prices.

After the banquet, as he rode in his luxury car driven by a bodyguard toward his Long Island mansion, he couldn't help but curse:

"Those damn short-sighted fools! Do they really think the company can't develop better weapons without Tony Stark?"

He knew that if something happened to Tony Stark, the company's stock would drop, but he hadn't expected it to plummet this much. If the stock didn't recover soon, even if Tony died and he gained full control of Stark Industries, its value would be severely diminished.

"And those Ten Rings bastards! I'll deal with them sooner or later. How dare they try to extort me!"

The attack on Tony Stark in the Middle East had been orchestrated by Obadiah, who hired the terrorist organization Ten Rings to eliminate Tony and take full control of Stark Industries.

But the Ten Rings had recognized Tony Stark's identity and immediately demanded an exorbitant price, one even Obadiah couldn't afford.

"Have you located the Ten Rings' base yet?"

"Boss, we've narrowed it down to the desert near Baghlan Province in Afghanistan. But pinpointing the exact location will take another two weeks."

The bodyguard driving replied.

"Once you find it, send a team to eliminate both Tony and those Ten Rings scum."

Obadiah's eyes gleamed with malice.

If they dared to threaten him, they would pay with their lives.

"Alright, time to get to work!"

High above, George spotted Obadiah's car approaching through his telescope. He quickly descended to the side of the road and began casting a spell on the ground:

"Softening Charm!"

A blue beam of magic struck the ground, causing the hard surface to soften and collapse.

As Obadiah's car sped over the softened area, it flipped and crashed onto the side of the road, skidding a considerable distance.

After days of investigation, George had learned that this road was Obadiah's usual route home, making it the perfect spot for an ambush.

Why not wait at his home?

Mainly because George wanted to stage a car accident to hospitalize Obadiah, further driving down Stark Industries' stock prices.

Additionally, Obadiah's mansion was heavily guarded, making it harder for George to extract information without being detected.

Approaching the overturned car, George saw that both Obadiah and the bodyguard were seriously injured, struggling to unbuckle their seatbelts and crawl out.

"Good evening, Mr. Stane!"

George crouched down and waved cheerfully at the two inside.

The bodyguard, highly alert, immediately abandoned his seatbelt and reached for his gun, aiming to shoot George.

But George was prepared. As he walked over, he had already begun casting a spell:

"Stupefy!"

A blue beam of magic struck the bodyguard first, knocking him unconscious.

Obadiah's eyes widened in panic, and he quickly spoke:

"Whoever sent you to kill me, I'll pay you ten times what they offered!"

"Tempting, but I'm not here to kill you."

George smiled at Obadiah, simultaneously activating his psychic abilities and casting another spell:

"Legilimens!"

A month ago, he had approached Legilimency expert Snape to learn about the Legilimency spell. At the time, Snape had refused, believing it was too early for George to learn such an advanced spell.

Moreover, Snape thought such a complex spell was beyond George's current capabilities.

To convince Snape, George had lied, claiming to be a natural Legilimens who could read minds when others were off-guard and communicate with magical creatures. He argued that learning the spell would help him better control his abilities.

After some testing, Snape confirmed that George did seem to have a natural talent for Legilimency and finally agreed to teach him.

Although after a month of practice, George was only able to use the spell at a basic level, combining it with his Level 2 psychic abilities allowed him to forcibly read someone's thoughts.

Especially when they were terrified.

"Tell me, where is Tony Stark?"

Two sharp blades slid out from George's sleeve, hovering between Obadiah's eyes.

"Otherwise, you'll soon lose your eyes, then your ears, and finally your life!"
