Chapter 48: Eight Tracking Spells

Chapter 48: Eight Tracking Spells

"I... I don't know what you're talking about. How would I know where Tony is? If I knew, I would have sent someone to rescue him.

You know, since he disappeared, the company's stock has plummeted..."

Obadiah stammered with a look of genuine fear on his face. His expression and tone were so convincing that if George hadn't been using both Legilimency and his psychic abilities to read Obadiah's thoughts, he might have been fooled.

Even with his life on the line, Obadiah could still act so convincingly. This guy was no pushover.

Of course, if he were a pushover, he wouldn't have been able to manipulate Tony so easily or wipe out the Ten Rings group.

"In the desert near Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. It seems you don't know the exact location either."

Stopping his Legilimency and psychic probing, George frowned.

He had assumed Obadiah would know the location of the Ten Rings' base, but it turned out Obadiah was also searching and had only narrowed it down to a general area.

"H-how do you know that?"

Hearing George's words, Obadiah was completely stunned.

George didn't bother explaining. Instead, he raised his wand and cast a spell on Obadiah:

"Obliviate!"

This was the only spell he had learned from Lockhart in the past three months. Although he wasn't as skilled as Lockhart, he could still erase a small portion of a Muggle's memory.

After casting the Memory Charm on Obadiah, he did the same to the unconscious bodyguard.

With that taken care of, he hopped onto his motorcycle, which he had parked nearby, and rode off.

Shortly after George left, the bodyguard and Obadiah slowly regained consciousness. However, their memories only went as far as the car crash, with no recollection of George.

"Damn it, I'm firing you, you useless idiot! Call for help immediately, and make sure no one finds out about this accident!"

The next day, news of Obadiah's car accident was reported by the ever-resourceful New York journalists.

Of course, these journalists had a certain "kind soul" to thank for leaving this explosive news on their desks.

With CEO Tony Stark missing and the acting head, Obadiah, injured in a car accident, Stark Industries' stock plummeted to an all-time low.

However, as the world's largest corporation, this was a blow but not a fatal one. It just meant less profit for the time being.

"Such a vast desert... finding someone won't be easy."

Standing at the entrance of Hogwarts Castle, George watched the snowflakes fall and pondered for a moment before turning and heading toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.

"It seems I'll need to visit the Restricted Section."

Finding Tony Stark in the desert, even if the area wasn't enormous, was still no simple task.

So, he needed a spell to locate people. He hadn't found such a spell in the regular library sections, so he would have to check the Restricted Section.

Normally, many wizarding spells were inspired by magical creatures' abilities. For example, the Legilimency spell was developed based on the natural Legilimency abilities of the cat-like creature, the Nundu.

Given the remarkable tracking abilities of owls, he doubted no wizard had developed a tracking spell. He also remembered that Newt Scamander was quite skilled in tracking magic, even capable of recreating past scenes.

Tonks had once mentioned during a meal that she was practicing a tracking spell specifically for hunting dark wizards.

But if there were tracking spells, there would also be anti-tracking spells. He recalled that Sirius Black was proficient in anti-tracking spells, making it impossible for Aurors to locate him, and he could even block owls.

However, people in the Marvel world wouldn't know anti-tracking spells. If he could master a tracking spell, he could quickly locate Tony Stark in the desert.

To access the Restricted Section, he needed a teacher's permission. Most teachers, including Snape, who currently held him in high regard, wouldn't grant him access.

After all, the Restricted Section contained many dangerous dark magic books and knowledge. A moment of greed could lead one down a dark path or cause self-harm.

So, he had no choice but to approach Lockhart, the teacher who, with a few flattering words, would easily grant him access.

As expected, after months of deliberately building a rapport, he obtained the permission slip with little effort.

"Go ahead, but don't mess up the precious books in there, or you'll regret it."

Madam Pince, the librarian, scrutinized the permission slip from Lockhart, frowned, and warned him before allowing him into the Restricted Section.

Compared to the thousands of books in the regular sections, the Restricted Section had far fewer books, but they were meticulously organized, clearly indicating that few ventured in.

George skipped over the books filled with tempting dark magic and began searching for those that recorded tracking spells.

It wasn't that he didn't want to read them, but the moment he entered the Restricted Section, his psychic abilities alerted him that someone was watching him.

If he had to guess, it was likely Dumbledore, using some unknown spell or magical object to monitor him.

Ever since Voldemort found information about Horcruxes in the Restricted Section, Dumbledore had been particularly vigilant about it. Setting up surveillance to prevent a repeat was understandable.

As long as he didn't touch the dangerous dark magic books, he should be fine. If questioned about learning tracking spells, he could always claim it was to find his biological parents.

When Dumbledoor wasn't around, he could return to study the dark magic books.

"Found it!"

After some searching, he discovered a book titled *Eight Methods to Find the Lost*. Flipping through it, he found it contained eight different tracking spells.

Some spells created arrows pointing in the right direction, others left footprints, and the most advanced one, like Newt's, could even reveal the person's image.

The most impressive was a time-based tracking spell that could rewind time to see past events, revealing everything the target had done.

However, since its creation, no wizard had been recorded as mastering this spell.

George's current level meant the advanced tracking spells were out of reach. He only needed to learn the simplest one, which used arrows to guide him.

In the desert, with no buildings to obstruct his view, an arrow-based tracking spell would be enough to locate Tony Stark.

Taking the book on tracking spells, George left the Restricted Section, checked it out with Madam Pince, and returned to the Slytherin common room to study the simplest tracking spell.

Meanwhile, in the Marvel world, his main body began the operation to eliminate the top members of the Carlson family.
