The next morning, Ji-Ah was determined to act like nothing had happened.
She had woken up earlier than usual, avoiding even looking at Evelyn's door as she went about her morning routine. But no matter how much she tried to push last night's events out of her mind, her friends weren't about to let her.
The moment she stepped into the living room, Min-Hye smirked at her over her coffee. "So, how was your fiancée last night?"
Ji-Ah glared. "Nothing happened."
Seo-Jun waggled his eyebrows. "Are you sure? Because that kiss looked—"
Ji-Ah held up a hand. "We are not talking about this."
"Oh, we absolutely are," Min-Hye said, grinning. "Because, Ji-Ah, you were flustered. Like, completely gone."
Ji-Ah groaned. "She was drunk. It didn't mean anything."
Min-Hye and Seo-Jun exchanged a look before Min-Hye leaned forward. "And if she wasn't drunk?"
Ji-Ah opened her mouth to argue—only to freeze when a door creaked open.
Evelyn stepped out, her hair slightly messy from sleep, her usual sharpness dulled by the lingering effects of alcohol. She stretched lazily before her eyes landed on Ji-Ah.
Ji-Ah immediately looked away.
Min-Hye smirked. "Morning, Evelyn."
Evelyn let out a hum of acknowledgment before making a beeline for the coffee machine. As she poured herself a cup, she casually spoke without looking at Ji-Ah.
"So… about last night."
Ji-Ah froze.
Evelyn turned, taking a slow sip of her coffee before meeting Ji-Ah's gaze. Her expression was unreadable.
"I don't regret it," Evelyn said, her voice casual, but something in her eyes told a different story.
Ji-Ah's heart skipped a beat.
Seo-Jun wheezed. Min-Hye looked delighted.
Ji-Ah, on the other hand, had no idea how to respond.
So she did what she did best. She crossed her arms, pretended her heart wasn't racing, and scoffed.
"Like I care."
Evelyn smirked. "Oh? You sure?"
Ji-Ah hated the way her body reacted to that damn smirk.
She rolled her eyes, grabbed her bag, and marched toward the door. "I have work."
Evelyn watched her go, amusement flickering in her eyes.
Seo-Jun nudged Min-Hye. "She's doomed."
Min-Hye grinned. "Completely."
