Ji-Ah groaned as she dragged herself out of bed, her body aching from the night before. She glanced at the clock—she was late.
"This is your fault," she muttered, turning to glare at Evelyn, who was still lying comfortably under the covers.
Evelyn stretched lazily, completely unbothered. "My fault? I don't remember you complaining last night."
Ji-Ah's face burned. "Shut up." She quickly grabbed her clothes and rushed to get ready.
By the time she made it to the office, she was already preparing excuses. Ji-Ah never arrived late—she was the CEO, and being perfect was part of the job. But as soon as she stepped in, Kang Seo-jun and Min Hye-jin were waiting for her, grinning like they had just uncovered a big secret.
"Someone's late," Seo-jun teased, leaning against her desk. "That's new."
"Overslept," Ji-Ah said quickly, sitting down and flipping through some papers. "It happens."
Hye-jin raised an eyebrow, then pointed at Ji-Ah's neck. "Uh-huh. And those marks? You sure you just 'overslept'?"
Ji-Ah froze for half a second before tugging at her collar. "Mosquito bites."
Seo-jun burst out laughing. "Oh, come on. At least try to come up with a better excuse."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Ji-Ah muttered, pretending to focus on work.
Hye-jin smirked. "Right. And I suppose the 'mosquito' was named Evelyn?"
Ji-Ah knew she should have worn a scarf.
Before she could come up with another excuse, a familiar voice interrupted. "Did I miss something?"
Ji-Ah's head snapped up, and she almost cursed out loud. Evelyn.
Standing there in her office.
"What are you doing here?" Ji-Ah hissed, shooting her a death glare.
Evelyn smiled innocently. "What? I just wanted to see my fiancée."
Seo-jun and Hye-jin exchanged glances, both trying way too hard not to laugh.
Ji-Ah clenched her jaw. "You. Outside. Now."
Evelyn tilted her head. "Oh? Are we having a private meeting?"
"Evelyn." Ji-Ah's patience was running out.
Evelyn finally chuckled and raised her hands in surrender. "Alright, alright. No need to get so worked up."
As she followed Ji-Ah outside, Seo-jun called after them, "Try not to get too distracted this time!"
Ji-Ah slammed the door shut behind her.
