Ji-Ah barely had time to breathe. Between back-to-back meetings and reports, she hadn't even thought about what to wear for the evening. She didn't have the energy to argue with Evelyn about this so-called date, so she did the next best thing—she ordered a dress online and had it delivered to the office.
At exactly 7 PM, the doors to her office swung open, and in walked Evelyn, right on time.
Ji-Ah looked up from her desk and sighed. "You couldn't have waited downstairs?"
Evelyn smirked. "Where's the fun in that?"
Before Ji-Ah could respond, the receptionist peeked in with a neatly wrapped package. "CEO Ji-Ah, your delivery."
Ji-Ah froze.
Seo-jun and Hye-jin, who had been hovering nearby, immediately perked up.
"Oooh, what's this?" Hye-jin asked with a knowing grin.
Ji-Ah snatched the package before anyone could get a look. "None of your business."
Seo-jun leaned back against her desk, smirking. "Let me guess. A dress? For your very special plans tonight?"
Ji-Ah shot him a glare. "I will fire you both."
Evelyn chuckled, watching the scene unfold. "Looks like someone put in effort for me."
Ji-Ah groaned. "I ordered it because I was busy. That's it."
Hye-jin nudged Seo-jun. "Did you hear that? She planned for this."
Ji-Ah grabbed her coat and turned to Evelyn. "We're leaving. Now."
Evelyn only grinned. "As you wish."
As they walked out, Seo-jun called after them, "Have fun on your totally not date!"
Ji-Ah ignored him, but she could feel Evelyn's amused gaze on her.
She had agreed to this deal, but the way Evelyn looked at her made it clear—she wasn't getting out of it anytime soon.
