Evelyn leaned against the car, arms crossed, watching as Ji-Ah approached. Two days of silent treatment had driven her insane. She hated being ignored—especially by Ji-Ah.
Ji-Ah opened the car door but didn't get in. Instead, she turned to Evelyn with a raised brow. "I think I'm supposed to be the angry one here, but I'm not sure why someone else is mad at me."
Evelyn scoffed, pushing off the car. "Oh, so now you're talking to me?"
Ji-Ah rolled her eyes. "You're the one who's been acting like I did something wrong."
Evelyn's jaw clenched. "Because I already apologized a hundred times, Ji-Ah. But you kept acting like I committed some unforgivable crime."
Ji-Ah crossed her arms. "You shouted about how irresistible I was the second you stepped into our apartment—while my mother and my friends were sitting right there."
Evelyn exhaled sharply. "I didn't know they were there! Do you think I'd have said that if I knew your mom was watching?"
Ji-Ah stared at her.
"…Okay, fine, I might have still said something, but not that loud," Evelyn admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. "I was excited to see you, and I missed you, and I was frustrated because of my workload ."
Ji-Ah sighed, but before she could respond, she added, "And I did call you, Evelyn. I messaged you, too—about my mom and my friends being home. But you didn't check."
Evelyn frowned, pulling out her phone. She scrolled through her notifications and—there it was. Ji-Ah's missed calls. The unread messages.
Her face fell.
Ji-Ah sighed, shaking her head. "Exactly."
Evelyn exhaled, feeling guilty now. "Ji, I was busy with meetings, and I—" She stopped herself. That wasn't an excuse.
She turned to Ji-Ah. "I'm sorry. I should've checked my phone."
Ji-Ah didn't say anything. She just looked out the window.
Evelyn hesitated, then reached over and took Ji-Ah's hand. "Babe."
Ji-Ah didn't pull away, but she didn't respond either.
Evelyn squeezed her fingers. "I'm really sorry. I was upset and didn't think straight. Let's go home, okay?"
Ji-Ah sighed. "Drive."
Evelyn smiled a little, relieved. As she started the car, she glanced at Ji-Ah. "So… we're good now?"
Ji-Ah leaned against the window, arms still crossed. "I don't know."
Evelyn gasped dramatically. "You don't know? Ji, I literally begged for your forgiveness!"
Ji-Ah didn't respond.
Evelyn smirked. "Fine, then I'll just have to convince you in other ways."
Ji-Ah sighed. "Eve—"
Evelyn grinned. "Oh, are you worried? Scared I'll be too charming? Too persuasive?"
Ji-Ah rolled her eyes. "You're annoying."
Evelyn gasped. "Annoying? Me? Impossible. I'm the most lovable fiancée in the world. You're just being stubborn."
Ji-Ah shook her head, but Evelyn caught the tiny smirk forming on her lips.
Evelyn leaned closer. "Oh, you love me so much, don't you?"
Ji-Ah looked out the window, trying to hide her smile.
Evelyn grinned wider, satisfied. The silent treatment was officially over.
