Evelyn sighed and sat beside Ji-Ah, scooting close. She reached for Ji-Ah's hand, trying to hold it. "Ji-Ah, let me explain," she said softly.
But Ji-Ah pulled her hand away without a word.
Instead of arguing, Ji-Ah silently took another plate, placed a piece of toast and an omelet from her own plate onto it, then slid it toward Evelyn. Without looking at her, she stood up and went to the kitchen to make more toast for herself.
Evelyn watched her for a moment, feeling guilty. She's really mad.
Not wanting to sit still, she followed Ji-Ah into the kitchen. Before Ji-Ah could move away, Evelyn wrapped her arms around her from behind, pressing her face into the crook of her neck. She inhaled deeply, breathing in her familiar scent.
"I was wrong," Evelyn whispered. "I shouldn't have yelled at you." She pressed a soft kiss to Ji-Ah's shoulder. "And I'm sorry for leaving without telling you… and not answering your calls."
Ji-Ah remained quiet, her hands still busy making toast.
Evelyn sighed against her neck. Silent treatment. Ji-Ah could be so stubborn when she was upset.
A moment later, Ji-Ah picked up her phone and called Kang Seo-Jun. "I'm taking the day off. Cancel my meetings and handle anything important."
Evelyn's heart sank as she listened. Ji-Ah must have been really scared if she wasn't even going to work.
She didn't know what else to do, so she just quietly followed Ji-Ah hoping for a chance to make it right.
