A Night of Fireworks and Feelings

The first crackle of fireworks burst into the sky, painting vibrant colors across the night. The crowd's excited gasps blended with the sound of popping explosions. Under the brilliant display, Isagi stood beside May, his heart pounding louder than the fireworks.

May's eyes sparkled, reflecting the bursts of red, blue, and gold. "It's so beautiful!" she whispered, her voice filled with pure excitement.

Isagi smiled softly, watching her instead of the sky. "Yeah… really beautiful."

As the show continued, May's enthusiasm was contagious. She pointed at each new pattern, her joy lighting up the moment more than the fireworks ever could. Isagi felt his resolve strengthening. He knew this was the perfect moment.

"May…" Isagi started, his voice quiet but firm. He reached into his pocket, feeling the small box he'd hidden there.

Before he could continue, Kaito and Akari appeared behind them. "There you two are!" Kaito grinned. "We almost lost you in the crowd."

Akari elbowed him. "Don't interrupt them!" she whispered, but Kaito was too dense to take the hint.

Isagi sighed, his perfect moment slipping away. May, oblivious, continued watching the sky. Kaito leaned closer. "So? Are you gonna do it or what?" he teased.

"Shut up," Isagi muttered, feeling his face heat up.

But the interruption didn't kill his determination. As the finale of the fireworks approached, he gently took May's hand. She turned to him, surprised. "Isagi?"

He took a deep breath. "There's something I've been meaning to say…"

But before he could, the biggest firework of the night exploded, drowning his words in its deafening boom. May's eyes were on the sky again, and Isagi could only laugh helplessly.

"Guess the fireworks beat me to it," he mumbled.

Still, as the show ended and they walked back toward the dorms, their fingers stayed intertwined. And even without words, the warmth between them spoke volumes.

Tomorrow… he'd try again.
