Nani felt his heart drop as Sky turned away without a word.
"Sky—wait!" Nani called after him, stepping forward instinctively.
But Sky didn't stop.
Didn't turn around.
Didn't even hesitate.
The sound of the door clicking shut behind him felt like a slap to Nani's chest.
For a second, all he could do was stand there, frozen.
"Shit…" Nani muttered under his breath, rubbing a hand over his face.
He had just realized his feelings for Sky, and now—just like that—he might have lost him.
"Phi'…" Dew's voice was small, guilty. He sniffled, stepping back from the hug. "I'm sorry, I—"
"It's not your fault, Dew," Nani said quickly, though his voice was tight. "This is on me."
He turned toward the door, his heart pounding. "I need to go after him."
"Nani, are you sure?" Dew asked, voice still shaky. "Maybe he just needs time to cool off—"
"No." Nani cut him off, already grabbing his phone and keys. His mind was racing, but one thought was clear—
He couldn't let Sky misunderstand this.
He wouldn't let Sky walk away thinking he wasn't serious about him.
Not now. Not after everything.
"Dew…" Nani said as he pulled open the door, glancing back. "Take care of yourself, okay?"
Dew nodded slowly, his eyes searching Nani's face. "You really love him, don't you?"
For the first time, Nani didn't hesitate.
"Yeah, I do."
And with that, he was out the door, running after the one person he couldn't afford to lose.
--------
Sky walked as fast as he could to his car, his vision blurred with unshed tears. His hands trembled as he gripped the steering wheel, driving aimlessly through the city streets. He had no destination—only a mind racing with unanswered questions.
Are they together?
Is this why Nani never let me talk about my feelings?
Every time Sky had tried to open up, Nani had found a way to avoid the conversation. If he was in love with Dew, he should have just told him. Sky could have handled that—he thought he could have handled that. But finding out this way? Seeing them like that? It was a different kind of pain, one that settled deep in his chest like a wound he couldn't touch.
Regret gnawed at him. He should never have gone to Nani's place. He had gone there out of jealousy, after seeing Dew's Instagram story—a picture of Nani eating, with two heart emojis beside it. He had recognized the background instantly. Nani's room.
By the time Sky saw it, it was already 6:30 in the evening. He hadn't thought twice. He just grabbed his spare keycard and went straight to Nani's condo, determined to confront him, to ask why Dew was suddenly taking his place.
But now, he wished he had never gone at all.
Because he would rather live in uncertainty than face the truth he had just seen with his own eyes.
-------
For the first time in a while, Nani found himself behind the wheel, navigating Bangkok's chaotic streets despite his usual fear of driving in such a busy city. His destination was clear—Sky's house. But when he arrived, he was told Sky wasn't home.
Panic settled in. He pulled out his phone and called Sky. Once. Twice. Ten times. No answer.
His worry deepened as he started dialing the people closest to Sky, hoping someone had seen or heard from him. But one by one, they all gave the same response—Sky was nowhere to be found.
Desperate, Nani drove to all the places he knew Sky liked to go. Each stop ended in disappointment. Still, he kept calling. Twenty times. Thirty. By the time he reached his fiftieth call, it was clear—Sky wasn't going to pick up.
Meanwhile, Sky sat in his car, his phone vibrating relentlessly beside him. He couldn't bring himself to answer. He was terrified. Terrified that Nani was calling to confirm his worst fear—that he and Dew were now together. That whatever hope he had been holding onto was gone. He wasn't ready to hear it, so he let the calls go unanswered.
After more than three exhausting hours of searching, Nani finally returned home. He took a deep breath and sent Sky a text:
"You misunderstood, nothing is going on between Dew and I, please come to my place let's talk I am alone and I'm waiting."
As soon as the message was delivered, Nani prayed Sky would read the message and show up.
Sky stared at his phone, his heart pounding as he read Nani's message over and over again. His fingers hovered over the call button, trembling slightly.
You misunderstood. Nothing is going on between Dew and me.
Did he?
The image of Nani hugging Dew was burned into his mind—too close, too intimate. It felt like something more than just comfort. But would Nani really lie about this? Sky knew him well enough to know he wasn't the type to play games.
Should I go or not?
The question looped in his head as he gripped the steering wheel, knuckles turning white. His chest felt tight—anger, doubt, fear all clashing inside him. He was scared of getting hurt, but he needed answers. He needed to know where he and Nani stood.
Cursing under his breath, he started the engine and sped toward Nani's condo.
---
Minutes passed. Then twenty. Then twenty-five.
With each second, Nani's chest grew heavier.
Maybe I messed up. Maybe he's not coming.
The fear of losing Sky crept up on him, suffocating. His fingers twitched as he checked his phone for the hundredth time, but there were no new messages.
Just as doubt began to consume him, the front door burst open.
Sky stood there, slightly out of breath, his expression unreadable.
"You're here," Nani breathed, standing up.
Before he could say anything else, Sky was on him.
In a flash, Nani's back hit the wall, Sky's hands braced on either side of him.
Sky's voice was low, strained. "What exactly did I misunderstand?"
Nani swallowed, feeling the heat radiating from Sky's body.
"You were hugging him, Nani." Sky's breath was ragged, his jaw clenched. "So intimately... your bodies were touching." His voice shook with barely restrained anger.
Nani opened his mouth to explain, but the intensity in Sky's eyes made his words catch in his throat.
Sky was furious.
