Abyss Unleashed

The figure that emerged from the smoke was unlike anything Marcus had ever seen. It stood tall, its form obscured by shadows and flickering light, but the air around it pulsed with an overwhelming sense of dread. Eyes like burning embers locked onto him, and Marcus felt the weight of that gaze press down on his chest like a vice.

"Emily, RUN!" Marcus bellowed.

But Emily stood frozen, her fingers still on the keyboard as she stared at the thing stepping into the room. The Ghost's smile widened, his face twisted with eerie satisfaction.

"It's too late," the Ghost whispered. "You woke it up. And now… it's hungry."

The creature moved with terrifying speed. One second it was across the room, and the next it was in front of Marcus. He barely had time to raise his arms before a wave of force slammed into him, sending him crashing into the far wall. Stars burst behind his eyes.

"Marcus!" Emily screamed.

He pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the pain. "Get out of here, now!"

"I can't!" she cried. "The system's still locked—I need more time!"

The creature turned toward Emily, taking slow, deliberate steps. The ground seemed to quake beneath its feet.

"Not happening," Marcus growled. He launched himself at the creature, fists swinging. His blows landed, but they felt like hitting solid steel. The creature didn't even flinch.

The Ghost's laughter echoed through the room. "You still think you can fight this? You're nothing but an insect to it. And when it's done with you, it will consume everything."

"Shut up!" Marcus roared.

He dodged a swipe from the creature's massive arm, barely avoiding the claws that carved deep gouges into the metal floor. Emily was still typing furiously behind him.

"Almost there," she muttered. "Just a little more…"

The creature turned on Marcus again, and this time it was faster. He felt a sharp pain as claws raked across his side, and he hit the ground hard.

"Marcus!" Emily's voice was frantic.

"Finish it!" he rasped, forcing himself up.

00:10… 00:09…

"I'm in!" Emily shouted.

She hit the final key, and the room shuddered as the countdown froze.

00:01…

But the creature didn't stop.

"Shut it down!" Marcus called.

"I'm trying!" Emily's fingers flew, but the system fought back. "It's not responding—"

The creature loomed over Marcus.

And then the lights went out.
